Techno. Everything from deep minimal techno to electro, house, progressive...depends on the track and my mood while I am producing.
Fourteen year veteran of the Omaha electronic dance music scene, Aaron Lee is considered both a figurehead and one of the godfathers of dance music in Omaha. From his humble beginnings of house parties to sharing the stage with some of the best DJs in the world, Aaron Lee’s resume is one of the strongest in the area. Currently in his 6th year as resident DJ and entertainment director for the highly respected Bar 415, he has been instrumental in shaping dance music in Omaha today. As entertainment director, he has helped bring some of the worlds best known artists to Omaha, with the likes of Troy Pierce, Paco Osuna, Miskate and Someone Else, Marc Houle, Tony Rohr, Dieselboy, Hochi, Shimon, Dara, Blake Jarrell, Nosmo and Kris B, and a host of others to his club. He plays 2-3 nights a month at the club as well, keeping in tune with the world scene and always playing up front and unreleased tracks. He also schedules locals to be able to share their music with Omaha. He seldom has time to travel, but has played in several regional venues such as The Church in Denver, raves in Minneapolis, and smaller clubs in Kansas City and Lincoln. Aaron Lee is also part of www.ultramusique.com, a local production company that promotes events and specializes in a twice a year riverboat cruise which boasts 3 levels of DJs and a 400 person capacity that has sold out all 8 times it has been held. Ultramusique also supplies free live sets of some of the worlds best DJs which Aaron Lee is also a resident for.
Aaron Lee and his partner, Daniel LaRusso own Giant Squid Recordings, which is currently on their 25th release and is distributed through Symphonic Distribution to a wide variety of outlets including Beatport, Juno, Track It Down, DJ Download, iTunes, Amazon, and several other sites. Their label has had support from Serge Devant, Blake Jarrell, Peter Pain, DJ Red, Nosmo and Kris B, Kosmos Epsilon, DJ Villo, Randall Jones, and several other DJs throughout the globe. Aaron Lee's latest remix of the Josh Dupont single "Slinky" climbed the Balance Record Pool charts all the way to 3! He has put several tracks out on Giant Squid Recordings, and has also done remixes for Deep Life Records, and Slavic Records, and has remixes pending release on Zuvuya Recordings, Solar Cathedral Recordings, Nightshade, and Wreckless Recordings.
Here's a super sweet video for "No Escape" that Joe did for me!!
I've been doing this techno thing for a long, long time. Twelve years of DJing in and around Omaha has made me appreciate the music and the people of this scene and I hope to continue to do this as long as I possibly can. I'm very happy this little town has given me the oppourtunity to play music for them, and I am especially grateful to www.ultramusique.com for pimping my monthly mixes on their website and to Bar 415 for my 5+ year residency and for making me the artist representative and giving me control over the schedule of fine DJs that Omaha and the region has to offer. Now I'm starting to get into the producing thing a bit and I am loving that just as much. Nothing like playing your own tracks and watching the dancefloor move to what is totally and completely yours. I've played alongside countless "headlining" DJs and have come to the conclusion that most of them, although good at what they do (most of the time), are no better at their craft than a lot of us who are unknown. Omaha has some unbelievable talent as far as DJs go...Lunatik and Plan 9, both label owners and fine DJs and producers, Glenn Okada, Myth, Danny Maze and William Kennedy...some of the most technically gifted DJs I have had the pleasure of working with, and dozens of others, too many to list here. I'm sure that we're not the only city with this level of talent. My goal is to get some talent from Omaha gigs in other cities, as well as get some of you unknown DJs from other cities a chance here. Feel free to shoot me a message about anything at any time.
Rave On!!!
Hello my new friend (tee hee). Soooo, will you be gracing us with your presence tomorrow night at the 415? THIS time I will not be preforming stupid bar tricks. Sorry, I try to stick to my schedule of only one preformance a month. It takes me too long to recoup, haha! Hope your week is fab!
