Very flexible with instrumentation upon requests--solo, duo, trio, quartet, quintet, sextet and even a 12 piece band.
Solo performance is my forte.
But, usually I play with a quintet--Vocals and rhythm guitar, Lead guitar,
Keys, Bass,Drums.
Influences
Strong influence of brazilian music and singers such as Djavan, Gilberto Gil, and Caetano Veloso.
For haitian music and singer--Ti Paris.
Sounds Like
While the influence of brazilian music may be apparent at times, his music sounds like nothing you may have heard before because of the adaption of the guitar to the sounds of haitian music, and the use of endemic elements of this music.
Gifrants has dedicated his life to preserving and playing haitian music in a much more challenging manner on the world music scene. As a songwriter, guitarist and vocalist, he has been exploring different genres within the spectrum of this music--from folk to creole jazz, from roots music to voodoo jazz, haitian contemporary music, pop and chanting.
He has published numerous projects. They reflect a strong influence of brazilian music when it comes to haitian creole jazz which is a fusion of haitian music, brazilian music and jazz and the upbeat and syncopations of afro music when he plays haitian roots music and voodoo jazz.
In his music, Gifrants conveys with a warm, sensual and seductive voice the life, struggles and hope of the Haitian people as well as the depth of his personal feelings and emotions about love and relationships.
Hi friend . Your music sounds really unique and incredible to me. Love Your guitar style and singing (though i can't understand it) too. I'd love to make some muisc with you .
hi Gifrants, it's great to hear your sounds and rhythm again and thankyou for writing.. will look into it:) I hope life and music is treating you well! warm wishes Elizabeth
Thankyou Gifrants. I love old people too. They are so often more interesting and wiser than young ones. I hope to get wiser!! Your family sounds fascinating. I think this old man I met is blocking alot of love out. He wouldn't feel so lonely if he saw all the people trying to help. But he may have just been having a bad day too. We all have them. warmest wishes to you! Elizabeth

Hello, Gifrants. I stopped by to get a dose of my favorite song :-) and to say I pray that you are enjoying this holiday season when I noticed your blog on your BAM gig. Thank you for the mention! :-) Again, I truly had a wonderful time as did my girlfriend and her friend. I am inspired to take French so that I can appreciate your songs more fully. See what your music does! Also, I wanted to ask you how I can purchase a CD. I am not sure which album my favorite song is on. On your website it appears all of the albums are sold out.
What an honor and great pleasure it was to hear you perform LIVE and then have a few moments to speak with you at BAM Cafe last night. I am truly a new fan! And thank you for singing my new favorite song "Ton Fwi Defandi" which I refer to as "The Pamela Song". I LOVE IT AND ENJOYED WATCHING YOU PERFORM IT! I REALLY HAD A GREAT TIME LAST NIGHT, AS DID MY FRIEND WHO ACCOMPANIED ME. THANK YOU!!
it was so nice to see you. i was running so late for my bus i didn't have the pleasure of your music but your smile was indeed a great send off. see you next time. thanks...mj
