GIG IN THE GLEN SLIDESHOW
Gig In The Glen 2006 in Dunfermline was the best yet!!
Established in 2004 as a free music festival in Dunfermline, Gig In The Glen is rapidly establishing itself as a key date in the summer.
Gig In The Glen 2006 was sponsored for the second year by the Kingsgate Shopping Centre, without whom... Like Gig In The Glen it's getting bigger and better too!!
20th August 2006 saw a brilliant lineup of names - the weather was dreich but the spirits certainly weren't!! Four Good Men were phenomenal headliners and an honour to bring to Dunfermline. All the rest of the bands lived up to their reputations and rocked our socks off - see the blog for band details...
I'm now gonna take a wee rest, concentrate on my REAL job, focus on The Shine for a bit - then gear up for 2007!
As the media says, 2007 will be even bigger and better. Many thanks to PJ Malloy's for their support on the day... And continuing support in joining me in the organisation of 2007.
GIG IN THE GLEN 2007 - PRESS RELEASE
CALLING ALL THE HEROES!!!
We're really pleased to announce that the Mighty IT BITES will Headline this year's GIG IN THE GLEN. This is a major bonus for the event and Dunfermline to see one of the finest British Rock Bands in the past 20 years live in Pittencrieff Park!!
Their set will be littered with classic hits from their past, as well as stonking new tracks, from their forthcoming (and as yet untitled) album, which the band are currently recording. Having just released a live album 'When The Lights Go Down', recorded on their near-sellout December 2006 UK tour, as Classic Rock wrote last month in their 5star review of it, "It Bites still have the wherewithal to maintain their status as a classic yet adventurous rock band". It promises to be a phenonemal closing set, not to be missed!.....and a fitting finale to the day, on what will be the biggest Gig In The Glen yet.
Immediately behind IT BITES, will be the brilliant ABEL GANZ from Glasgow. ABEL GANZ were formed back in 1983 and were one of two top progressive rock outfits ever to come out of Scotland - they still are!! With countless Festivals under their (albeit expanding) belts, stalwarts of the Classic Rock Society and the imminent release of their 6th studio album, "THE GANZ" are firing on all six cylinders!
Prior to being ganzed, you will have your socks rocked off by Kilmarnock's Mighty REDHOUSE. Redhouse bring together an incendiary rock show with power and melody... from supporting Bon Jovi at Hampden last June to Pittencrieff Park - We Are Honoured!!
Then there is the likes of the infectious BEATNIC PRESTIGE , the awesome Xi , the fast-rising and highly rated Rosyth Rockers THE DRAYMIN , and many more on the Main Stage.......and then there is the other two Stages (Marquee and Tower House), which are brimming with some of the cream of new and exciting local and national bands.
Full details of the 2007 lineup and information on each act coming soon in the Blog, and keep an eye out for more excellent updates on here and in bulletins, on a FREE Festival that is going to ROCK big style !!!!

Hi Gig In The Glen!!! D'you like to dive into our E-Virtual world and cast to our new Lasting Waves - videoclip? click the image down here, we're waiting for you!!!
While we work on the Dunfermline Website we could do with your help in getting as many/all your friends to send us a 'Friend Request' - we know it's a little work but it would go a long way to helping us promote the venues and bands. Our Myspace is really popular but the main purpose is to attract people to the website and the wbsite needs our 24/7 attention to get it firing on all cylinders. So if you could do your wee bit to promote Dunfermline we'd be very grateful. Thanks to you all for being our friends and helping us promote our wondeful home.
hey,,our EP launch is almost here!! 12 noon @ sound control in dunfermline on sat...will be sweeties and wine (if your old enough...or can get away with it,lol) and lots of taylor kayne goodies. a couple of new songs should be in the set 2 :-) please, please come!!!
The following is taken from the Dunfermline Gig Guide's Myspace :
OBITUARY: DUNFERMLINE GIG GUIDE
"Dunfermline Gig Guide had the saintly aim of promoting the live music scene in Dunfermline, a town with some lovely music venues from the stately Carnegie Hall, via PJs, The Yard, Tower House, The Glen Pavillion, Cafe Fresh and the various high schools, to the hayloft-like Monty's. Between them they put on around 30 gigs a month, and Dunfermline Gig Guide was there to support them, and the bands that make them rock, roll or other.
However, not everyone is as saintly as the Dunfermline Gig Guide, and the sad story is that one little (or not so) devil sank the Dunfermline Gig Guide by promising things he had not intention of delivering.
And so the Dunfermline Gig Guide is languishing at the bottom of the Forth, and the fish weave in and out of its rotting timbers, and the silt lays a grey shroud over its bulk, as the bridges cast a shadowy cross over its watery grave...
The executors of Dunfermline Gig Guide's estate would like to thank all who contributedtp , inspired, read, befriended, distributed, and supported the Dunfemline Gig Guide. A particular thank you goes to Monty's and to Soundcontrol."
- Now anyone, who knows anything about Dunfermline will know 'the devil' to whom the Guide is referring in the above statement. We here at HQ happen to know the lad who worked his backside off to put this wee - and much needed - publication together, he worked really hard to give Dunfermline's music community a printed focal point. Let us try, in the near future, to give him the opportunity to get The Guide back into circulation.
