Reviews mention Bruce Springsteen, The Counting Crows, John Cougar Mellencamp, and Steve Earle as some influences heard in Tim Gilday’s music. Gilday embraces this as a compliment as he sees it as his music having roots.
At a Tim Gilday show audience members play percussive instruments and sing along to his songs. When people come to a Gilday show they are a part of the performance. The uplifting mood and good feeling overtakes the club. Gilday says, “My vision is to have 20,000 people singing and playing percussions at my shows. A true happening.”
This approach began at a show last year. The audience was singing along and Gilday jokingly said he should bring instruments for all of them. This spurred the audience to play the proverbial spoons and glasses the rest of the night. The show was a smash! That's when Tim decided to go out and get an assortment of instruments for his next show. Now the audiences are jamming along.
The 2008 release “Gilday” came about in true serendipity. New York Producer Mickey Earle put Tim in touch with Don Casale. Casale’s musical credits include, among many others, recording ‘IN A GODDA DIVITA’ by IRON BUTTERFLY. The 2008 “Gilday” CD was recorded at Don Casale Studios in Westbury, New York.
Gilday performs as an Indie Americana Rock Band and a solo acoustic artist at NYC clubs. He plays colleges in the Northeast and hopes to continue to expand the audience for his music. He is now recording his upcoming June 2010 release, “Live It Now”, at Don Casale Studios. A tour in support of his next release is in the works and be sure to be ready to jam when you come!
