    Born in Montreux, Switzerland on August 31st 1977, he takes up the trombone at the age of 12. He attends a number of master classes given by Paolo Fresu, Enrico Rava, Lee Konitz, Richie Beirach, Bobby Shew ... In 1998, he starts his studies at the Royal Conservatory of Brussels under Phil Abraham. He's playing around Belgium and Switzerland with likes of Cyrille Bugnon ( Cully jazz festival), Patrice Moret, Luca Stoll, Tobias Friedli … In 2002, during a stay in New-York, he got to study with renowned trombonists such as Steve Davis, Conrad Herwig as well as Slide Hampton... Since his return to Belgium in 2003, Gilles Repond has been heard playing with Philippe Aerts, Chris Joris, Pierre Vaiana, Jean-Louis Rassinfosse, Christophe Astolfi, Quentin Liégeois, Mimi Verderame, Bruno Castelucci, Stéphane Mercier, The KMG'S, Marc Lelangue, Z, The Belgium Jazz Big Band, Dick Van Der Harst ...
