Gilo is currently in pre-production mode for the forthcoming 3rd EP “Dark Days Ahead” together with producer Marc ter Braak. They will hit the studio after the summer of 2009
Gilo, based out of The Netherlands plucks from many different musical influences and genres to create an inspiring blend of metal that is purely their own.
The band originally formed in August of 2001.
Each member brings a unique shade to the canvas and their sound breaths menace, brutality and emotion. You can actually feel the energy and devotion enter your constitution so moshing can no longer be prevented.
Some subjective impressions:
Metalstorm: The production is quite amazing and these guys ought to be congratulated for that emphasis put on the bass guitar. That's the sign of professional work. It is hard to be recognized when you're playing music like metalcore. Nevertheless, this cd shows that Gilo has it all to reach the fame they deserve.
MOD: Gilo pollutes the air with tight insolent, aggressive, nerve-racking, contemporary metal. The vocals go from screams to death grunts to normal vocals, the guitars are firm, tight and spooky, the bass is dirty and it's rich and the drums are massive and raging. The sampler does a great job with samples and fitting scratching. Because of clearly audible influences of Chimaira, Fear Factory, Machine Head, and Ministry most people would depict it as modern metal, but it's more then that. It's all played in an industrial atmosphere and thats why it got balls, sounds raw and is overloaded with power. Gilo is ready to engage the major MTV modern metal acts and beat most of them easily!!
Gilo played many, many shows in Holland including Nighttown Rotterdam and 013 Tilburg. They have been playing shows throughout Europe and not without succes, soldout shows in places like OneMilePub Lecce (ITA) and Hydepark Osnabruck (GER) were a few of the highlights. They did 2 headlining tours in Italy, played shows in Germany and Belgium and shared the stage with bands such as Hatesphere, Born From Pain, Volbeat, Neaera, Destruction, Dark Funeral, Misery Speaks, etc. etc. They have recorded 2 EP’s (On The Fuckin’ Move & Blood In Blood Out) with Mark Ter Braak at the Harrow Studio, known for recording legendary albums of bands like Asphyx, Sadist & Occult.
FC TWENTE (Dutch Eredivisie Club) used their song 'BLOOD IN' (from the EP 'BLOOD IN BLOOD OUT') for the promotion campaign of their new 2009/2010 clothing campain, which will be played for 24.000 people every other week
