Gimikk didn't become "The Best Party Band in Des Moines " overnight.
It has been an evolution that began rockin' about five years ago. One thing
has remained the same, however: Drummer Kip Porter has quite literally been the pulse of the band from day one. Much like the expansive and intricate percussion set that now surrounds his throne, Gimikk's founding member continued to recruit like-minded talents into the fold. The band's next pivotal step involved an important transition. Billy Seven harnessed a new power and inspiration after trading six strings for four. Now when Gimikk's enforcer plugs in, a flare uncommon amongst typical bassists is unleashed. The group then added stealth and technical prowess to their arsenal with the addition of guitarists "Jimmi V" & "Cy Kick." Jimmi's mastery of the axe enables Gimikk to pursue the most challenging riffs. Like a skilled snake charmer, his melodies enchant listeners (Jimmi rarely has to pay for a drink). Meanwhile Cy balances the other the end of the stage, often enlisting the aid of his golden acoustic. Finally, the last piece of the Gimikk puzzle fell into place in June of 2007. James Brinker's experience and penchant for high energy shows has been a perfect fit. Gimikk's frontman recognizes no boundary between the stage and their audience.
Forty hours a week Gimikk is a group of blue collar, working class
heroes with families and bills to pay. Perhaps this explains their appeal. When you punch your card at the end of the day, a cold bottle of brew in your hand or a backyard barbeque combined with Gimikk somehow just feels right. Soon you will find yourself at the front of the stage, singing along to the straight-up Rock & Roll that drives the heart of the Midwest . Gimikk will
be ready.
