Jay is often thought of as the glue of the band… He gives meaning to the phrase, “Tis the mucus that binds us”. Partially true because as he continues to sample beverage after beverage throughout the set list, he increasingly slobbers all over the mic. No really though, aside from his drive and edginess, he brings over 8 years of guitar playing experience and decades of vocal experience, providing a whole new dimension to Gin Bunny. A quote from Jay: “Each member of our band brings something new to the table. There’s talent, experience, aggression, passion, and drunkenness… Losing one of those traits would just make us sound like a sober bunny…”
GABE vocals/guitar/keyboard
Gabe has been playing guitar since being a teen of the 80's.. when hair metal ruled the world. He is 99% self-taught... and still can't read music for crap... but that doesn't stop him from dabbling in every instrument he can get his hands on. He enjoys sharing the lead vocal duties with Jay as much as playing the guitar. Long ago, Gabe started a garage band with some fellow Whitmer schoolmates, but while Gabe gave up the music for other priorities... Dan and Tom went on to form the highly successful Toledo party band Uncle Sandwitch (RIP). (Note: The former Uncle Sandwitch are now rocking in Arizona as The Hamptons, a MySpace friend of ours - so look them up and say hi!.) Now, “Gin Bunny” is the long-overdue opportunity for Gabe to get back to the music... the "fun" priority! As Seger says... rock'n'roll never forgets! And as Nigel Tufnel says, "These go to eleven!"
If you're asking, Gabe enjoys a good beer (a Sam Adams or Bass is great, but he's not too picky). Of course, a salty Margarita or a Gin Bunny Tonic will disappear just as quickly. Cheers!
JOE drums/percussion
Joe has the privilege of keeping us in check. Or get us beer... which ever comes first. LOL. Joe drives the beat on stage... and off stage, he apparently is qualified to mold young minds.... I just don't know dude... If the beat sounds off, or if your children are learning rock'n'roll lyrics in biology class... blame Joe. LOL. No but really, with over a decade of experience he brings his talent to lay down a beat to anything you request - if only the rest of the band could learn the lyrics and guitar parts that quickly!.
EVAN bass guitar/backup vocals
Evan came into audition and locked on the the Bunny instantly. Then he gave us the bunny salute... he did his homework, it was done... decision made. Evan enjoys drinking large quantities of premium beer and then attempting high stage pyrotechnics using only a lighter and toilet paper! A devoted dad and hubby, He works in the auto field and enjoys just layin low until the next show. A 4 string lover, Evan brings over 13 years of handling bass duties for various bands and such. Come out and give Evan your support at our next gig. I am sure you will enjoy his low-freq ass kickin.
Gin Bunny members are Gabe, Jay, Joe, and Evan. Gabe and Jay share lead vocals and lead guitar, with Evan and Joe providing an awesome beat and backup vocals. We have over 80 classic and new rock songs, providing a wide variety for nearly every rock fan. Our songs span 50 years of of FUN rock'n'roll with a party atmosphere. You mght hear some Elvis and some Weezer. Maybe some Rolling Stones and Green Day. How about some Hendrix, Nirvana, Poison, and Finger Eleven. "Brown Eyed Girl" by Van Morrison, live at Casa Barron in Perrysburg:
Let's just say “Gin Bunny” was born on St. Patty's Day 2007 as a result of a conversation no one really remembers.. not very clearly anyway. Needless to say, we DO remember GIN BUNNY, and the name stuck.
And so, the planets aligned on that fateful evening and the character of “Gin Bunny” was born – a mythical creature with the certain mojo to represent four idiot musicians looking to play music for fun.
Gin Bunny is our band name, our mascot, our crudely drawn fuzzy friend. He is his own separate personality… at least the one we can blame for any inappropriate behavior.
Who can deny the scruffy, bad-ass, bent-eared rabbit with a penchant for fermented juniper berries, sexy ladies, and loud music. He’s always the center of the party, and he likes it that way.
Gin Bunny’s close friends know the secret hand-signal… a peace sign with bent fingers. Of course this can have multiple interpretations… like “Gin Bunny Kicks Ass!” or “Turn it up to ‘11’” or “Gin Bunny makes me ‘horny’”. In any case, we’ll figure out what you meant.
But more than anything, Gin Bunny is all about music, fun, friends, and having a good time. Who can argue with that?
So show up and give us the ol’
Gin Bunny salute ^..^
Just want to say I am looking forward to laying out some tasty, juicy, booty moving bass lines for my new brothers in arms, The Gin Bunny crew. Looking forward to meeting all the band disciples. GIN BUNNY ROCKS!
I like what I hear...you should do MannFest '07...or GeekFest...we haven't come up with a name yet...we are working on something for our Grand Opening...let me know if you are interested. Thanks!
