Interests

  • General

On any given day, you will probably find me cleaning the house. That doesn't mean it is one of my interests, it just means that chasing around a five-year-old and a two-year-old is like trying to trap a spider monkey. I also enjoy reading- I usually have a book going- hanging out with my family and friends, taking pictures of the girls, and cuddling with my dog (the best dog EVER. Seriously.) I'm a pretty good cook, too. :o)
  • Music

I've really never been much into music. Growing up, I always hated it when my friends blasted music at ear-drum-busting volumes. I've never been to a concert and probably won't ever go. I do enjoy a few songs (see my playlist), I love singing along (even if I'm not good at it), and a few of the bands I enjoy are: Goo Goo Dolls, Black Eyed Peas, Fergie, Madonna, Metallica, Justin Timberlake, and The Eagles.
  • Movies

I can never get enough of my all-time-favorite, The Shawshank Redemption. I swear I've watched that movie more than fifty times. I love anything with Tom Hanks, Leonardo DiCaprio, Ed Norton, or Will Smith. My favorite actress is Juliette Lewis but she sold out and is now a really terrible singer. Shame.
  • Television

Guiding Light, The Biggest Loser, Raising The Bar, House, Lockup, Hell's Kitchen, and Law & Order: SVU.
  • Books

Right now I feel like a little school girl as obsessed as I am with Edward Cullen. It's embarrassing, really. I enjoy pretty much anything as far as books go but I don't read sci-fi or cheesy romance. I've always enjoyed a good biography. I mostly read crime novels, even though they're a dime a dozen. Jodi Picoult novels are particularly poignant- try "My Sister's Keeper". I try to read the Bible every day.
  • Heroes

My Dad, Mom, Paw Paw, Gramma, Granny, and Great-Grandparents. I come from a long line of hard-working individuals that knew the value of hard work. Great Grandpa Richard Lanning, President of the Democratic Party in Rockford, Illinois- he fought for a better life for people just like him, and his grandchildren after him. He taught us that regardless of our station in life, hard work always pays off. Everyone who has fought for their life against cancer, a silent, relentless, and merciless killer. My Mom, my biggest fan, who loves her children beyond reason and without condition.

About me:

I am a stay-at-home Mom of two beautiful little girls, Cheyenne, 5, and Natalie, 2. I have been married for almost six years to my high school sweetheart, Josh. He is my best friend, my true love, my forever companion. I have a four-year-old Boston Terrier named Emma who easily qualifies as the best dog in my world, a Chihuahua puppy named Baxter, and a two-year-old guinea pig named Smitty. I am intelligent, controlling, manipulative, and unconditionally loving. I am lazy and I procrastinate to the bitter end, but I have big ideas and even bigger dreams. I hate bugs, and I hate liars even more. I read the Bible to my girls every day. Okay, almost every day. I love to swim, I hate to be hot, and I can't sleep unless my pillows are in just the right position. I am an optimist to a fault. I'd even say I'm naive. Funny, for a girl that grew up in the ghetto. My house is often messy even though I'm always cleaning. I let my kids make messes, laugh, and make mistakes. My friends are forever.

My little brother, T.J., was diagnosed with Osteogenic Sarcoma on August 1, 2008 and finally, after nearly ten months of fighting for his life, got a clean bill of health. He's cancer free! See the link below to read his updates!

Who I'd like to meet:

My Great Grandfather Lanning. He died when I was too young to care about the things that I would ask him about now.

We got her in Joshua, yesterday and they have 1 little girl left. She is 6 weeks and is registered, they are asking $250 for her. More than I ever thought I would have to pay for a dog, but she is so pretty, I couldn't resist.

What is something you want to do right now?
    Find a wad of money.

Yes, please. If only the world had random wads of money we could find.
    It'd be MIRACULOUS!

The girls got a Wii? Omg... get ready to get them glasses, but you're a good mom. You won't let them be glued to the Wii & the tv screen. Now, to keep Josh away from being glued to the tv & games... it's mens blood. Hahaha.

I should've gone Easter Egg hunting this year, I was deprived of it as a child.
Hahaha, can you imagine my adult self hunting for eggs? Did you have a good Easter, did the girls have fun? How's the husband of yours that's probably somehow related to me & my pacific islander/asian bloodline?
  • Apr 12 2009 7:07 PM
