"There’s a line in a Bonnie Raitt song that unbeknownst to Raitt, describes Ginger Leigh's style
as a musician and performer perfectly: “She’s a walking contradiction.”
Leigh struts out on stage, part Bette Midler vamp, part Gibson SG axe swinging rock star.
As one of the reigning divas of the Austin Indie scene, Leigh combines her on-stage cabaret
antics with soulful lyrics and passionate delivery."

GINGER LEIGH
BIOGRAPHY
2009
Ginger Leigh adds value and delight to every environment she enters. As a global artist featuring a variety of styles from rock to Latin to pop, blues and jazz, Leigh brings a classy modern mix of uniquely high-spirited music and entertainment. Leigh’s drive and ambition go unmatched.
She has released 7 CD’s and tours all over the world with an unstoppable force. Being from the 5th generation of professional musicians in her family, along with her own life experiences around the globe, she brings to her music and to the stage an old-soul embracing the ride in this body. Leigh is here to entertain, offering class and crass, simultanesouly. She cares about her audience and pays close attention to her fans’ needs. Leigh is the rare blend of artist and
business woman, fearless and humble, and is the kind of artist who is always invited back.
Throughout Ginger's youth, she mostly performed in contests and talent shows, sweeping 1st or 2nd place every time. She then studied at The University of Texas in Austin, receiving a degree in Sociology and Italian. She is a left brain/right brain woman, business-minded, proficient in foreign languages, and most importantly a prolific and driven musician.
After graduation from UT, Ginger Leigh began focusing on a professional career in music, building a strong fan base firstly in Austin and then expanding beyond the borders of Texas, across the U.S. and then in Europe - focusing on Italy, as she had lived there and speaks the language. Not to mention, she loves the food and wine!
Since 1997 Leigh has released 7 CD's - independently funding and producing them. Around the beginning of her professional music career, she recognized the rapid changes in the music industry. Labels were producing less-than-quality music on the mainstream market and they were quickly failing as internet technology began to take over the way we find and hear music -- so Leigh began to think as an independent label for herself.
In 1998,Ginger teamed up with vocalist and song-writer, Sarah Dashew, and together they formed "The Ginger and Sarah Band" which reached a high level of independent success. Together they were one of the first groups to have our own website, to begin blogging, to stay in close touch with their global fan base. They also secured high-dollar sponsorships with the likes of Advance Micro Devices, which helped the duo sustain their career and produce the highly-acclaimed record "Vera Takes the Cake", which was later distributed in Italy by S4 Records (Sony Italia). They performed multiple shows around the country for the launch of Oprah Winfrey's Oxygen Media channel. They toured extensively in the U.S., New Zealand and Europe.
After a 5 year span of working together, Ginger and Sarah chose to go their separate ways and get back to their own respective solo careers.
Since 2002, Leigh has released 3 studio albums and one live recording: 2002 Charge Laughing, 2004 Vivo, 2006 Sugar in My Coffee, and most recently 2008 Don't Be Shy. Ginger has also traveled countless miles, touring with her music all over the globe, including the U.S., New Zealand, and Europe. During this time period, she was also co-founder/co-owner of a fantastic retail boutique in Austin called Love. You see...unstoppable!

Fans describe the show as 'empowering,' 'funny,' 'sexy,' and 'encouraging.' Ginger's music reaches all demographics; all ages, genders, and back-grounds. The thread is that Ginger Leigh makes you feel good about life.
She is 'indefatigable', as said the Austin Chronicle October 2005. And has easily made a name for herself, as her show is powerful, sexy, and funny. Her music is delicious and various.
From the Austin Chronicle, September 2006
"Smarts is something Ginger Leigh has always demonstrated and her release from earlier this year, Sugar in My Coffee, is another jolt of java-laced groove and sweetly composed tunes. That's not to suggest they're lightweight or otherwise insubstantial, but rather that Leigh strikes a delicate balance between style, substance, and unrestrained rock & roll, especially on songs such as "Close Enough," "Angel," and "Mexican Man." -- Austin Chronicle, Margaret Moser Sept 2006
Ginger Leigh has been compared to Annie Lennox, Ani diFranco, Bonnie Raitt, Bette Midler, and Madonna.

Hello Ginger! I hope I can see your show at the new Casbeers. The sound there is awesome. That place has been an inspiration to me because of the fine musicians like you. It has given me motivation to play the guitar more. I've been playing the piano since I was 12, and I still play today. Hope to see you there!
