"There’s a line in a Bonnie Raitt song that unbeknownst to Raitt, describes Ginger Leigh's style
as a musician and performer perfectly: “She’s a walking contradiction.”
Leigh struts out on stage, part Bette Midler vamp, part Gibson SG axe swinging rock star.
As one of the reigning divas of the Austin Indie scene, Leigh combines her on-stage cabaret
antics with soulful lyrics and passionate delivery."

Ginger Leigh adds value and delight to every environment she enters. As a global artist featuring a variety of styles from rock to Latin to pop, blues and jazz, Leigh brings a classy modern mix of uniquely high-spirited music and entertainment. Leigh’s drive and ambition go unmatched.
Ginger Leigh, a profound singer-songwriter and top-notch entertainer will be recording a live CD at the Saxon Pub on Monday, November 23rd from 8:30-10:00.
Leigh has released 7 CD's thus far, two of which were from The Ginger & Sarah Band which split ways in 2002. Since then, Ginger Leigh has powered forward, releasing two more studio albums and a live full band CD recorded at Momo's. Ginger is based in Austin, Texas with countless shows at Saxon, Momo's, Antones and more. She also tours consistently around the US and Europe.
On November 23rd, the Saxon Pub will be filled with fans looking forward to being a part of Ginger's newest release, which will feature her new hit song, Jetstream, as well as a few other fresh tunes, a couple of Ginger's favorite cover songs, and recreations of some older G Leigh classics.
Ginger Leigh moved to Austin from San Antonio in 1993 to attend the University of Texas. Upon graduation, Miss Leigh took to local and international stages as a professional performer, continuing a life-long passion for music that she began as a child.
Leigh is as equally loved as misunderstood. Some blindly consider her an emergent Melissa Etheridge type as her on-stage energy is quite similar in strength, but Ginger Leigh is more of a chanteuse-like female Elvis who appeals to both men and women, young and old. Her lyrics speak of the men she has loved, the women she has engaged, the church that she struggles to detach from and the God that gives great love to the world. Ginger's strongest message is about living outside of the box, about being yourself, and about not judging others. She manages to deliver this message with contemporary powerful up-beat rhythms and melodies that come from her varied background in jazz, country, R&B, and a family of 5 generations of professional musicians.
While listening to Ginger Leigh's records or while watching her passionate performance on stage, you hardly realize that much of her music is serious. She comes across with a lightness and ease, lifting you, rather than pulling you down. She is in constant celebration of life's questions and struggles. Her music is empowering, thus allowing her to be a camelion in the genre-based world of the music business. You might catch Ginger Leigh performing at a country music festival, a folk festival, a rock or jazz club, making her point about living outside the box and without definitions. This she does with a piercing clarity, power and seduction as irresistible as the blue eyes with which she sings to you from stage.

From the Austin Chronicle, September 2006
"Smarts is something Ginger Leigh has always demonstrated and her release from earlier this year, Sugar in My Coffee, is another jolt of java-laced groove and sweetly composed tunes. That's not to suggest they're lightweight or otherwise insubstantial, but rather that Leigh strikes a delicate balance between style, substance, and unrestrained rock & roll, especially on songs such as "Close Enough," "Angel," and "Mexican Man." -- Austin Chronicle, Margaret Moser Sept 2006
Ginger Leigh has been compared to Annie Lennox, Ani diFranco, Bonnie Raitt, Bette Midler, and Madonna.

Hello Ginger! I hope I can see your show at the new Casbeers. The sound there is awesome. That place has been an inspiration to me because of the fine musicians like you. It has given me motivation to play the guitar more. I've been playing the piano since I was 12, and I still play today. Hope to see you there!
