**************************************************************History: Saint Paul based songwriter/singer Greg Hammond has been crafting, recording and performing pop and bar tunes over the past several years in the Twin Cities under the stage alias Gin House Jed. From 1997 to 2003, GHJ honed its roots pop/rock sound while playing both wired and acoustic shows throughout the upper Midwest. Then, in 2006, after a three year sabbatical, GHJ returned to the local music scene with full band acoustic appearances at various Twin Cities venues including Borders Bookstores, Shane's On Main and Cravings Wine Bar & Grill. Fans are drawn to the group's unique blend of orignial acoustic rock, folk, pop, funk, Americana, blues, roots rock & jam band material.
**************************************************************Ancient History: Prior to Gin House Jed, Greg fronted local alt rock band The Tremors from 1993-1994. Along with brother Tim on drums, the band featured Erik Peterson on lead guitar and Volney Hendrix on bass. The Tremors could be found performing at the 24 Bar and Fowl Play in Minneapolis. In late 1995, Tim pursuaded Gregory, brother Jon (bass guitar) and good friend Steve Napp (lead guitar) to form a new band with the intent of getting together now and then to jam. This group became known as The Jedhounds and played several shows at the Terminal Bar in Minneapolis and Ace Box Bar (now Dubliner Pub) in Saint Paul. In 1997, the band changed the moniker to Gin House Jed playing off of Gregory's childhood nickname and his affinity for an occasional gin & tonic. From 1997 to 2003, Gin House Jed could be found giggin' on a regular basis around the Twin Cities including venues such as O'Gara's Garage, Fine Line Music Cafe, Cabooze and Marios Keller Bar.
**************************************************************History of "Go Out Happy": Gin House Jed recorded its debut album "Go Out Happy" in late 1998 at Third Ear Studio in Minneapolis with Tom Herbers at the helm as producer & engineer. The CD release party was held at O'Gara's Garage on April 17, 1999. Locally, the title track received airplay on Cities 97 and KQRS and nationally, various college stations from across the country spun the disc as well.

History of "And Monday Was": Gin House Jed recorded their second album "And Monday Was" over a several month period of late 2001/early 2002 again at Third Ear Studio with Tom Herbers. In early 2003, the band released the disc prior to embarking on a three year sabbatical from live performances altogether in order to focus on more significant life events.

If you're around on Thursday, December 10th, we are playing a show at Mario's Keller Bar. I don't know if you've been there, but it's a very cool place. It's a comfortable space, the room sounds great and they have a stellar beer selection.
Also, we will be playing ALL NIGHT! We'll play some funky, bluesy, and soulful music. We'll project live video onto a 9 ft screen. We'll play some older material that hasn't been heard in awhile, as well as some brand new songs that've never been heard. All bets are off!! We'd love it if you'd come down and listen/party with us!
I was going to go camping over the weekend, but this is definitely NOT camping weather. So me and some friends went to check out Dueling Pianos. Those guys are amazing - they can play just about any song that's been on the radio between 1950 and 2005.
Speaking of music, I wanted to let you know about a show we have @ Station 4 on Friday, October 16th. We are debuting a project called Sonic Transformations. It is a series of audio-visual performance pieces. The first one is called "AN OBJECT TO CRAVE". It features live music and visuals based on a short story about life, love, loss, fantasy, obsession and death.
Another group of mine, The Magnetrons, which plays an exciting and innovative Livetronica set (i.e. STS9, Disco Biscuits, The Histronic) will also be playing. The night will be full of creative, interesting, high-energy music, good drinks and good times.
Here's the info:

I just wanted to stop by to say hello and give you a little update on what Blood Root Mother is up to! We will be recording an EP of new music in August, and we recently finished recording a live DVD. The DVD is currently unreleased and I actually just saw it for the first time a few days ago. It features the last two performances with Tony Ellis still alive, and some footage from the tribute show we played on the night of his funeral.
There are some cool covers, as well as some NEW music that will be on our upcoming EP. We're very excited about the new music and we'd like to share a sneak peak with you. Here's a video of a new tune called Run Bobby Run:

I recommend stopping by during happy hour for two for one drinks along with free buffet, which is delicious. We'll be hanging out at Trocs all night, so come by and chill/party with us :)

Since you seem to have good taste in music and live around the cities, I wanted to let you know about our show THIS Thursday, February 26th. We will be burning down the house at Trocaderos Nightclub in Minneapolis (107 3rd Ave N). If you've been there before, I don't have to tell you it's one of the best venues in the Twin Cities - classy atmosphere, great drinks, and the sound is always fantastic. We're gonna be recording live for a DVD, and this is definitely gonna be the coolest show we've done yet. So COME ON DOWN! The show is 18+, it starts at 9pm, and the cover is a mere $5.
Hope to see you there!
Peace, Elliot

A brutal night of original music, and a chance for fans to lay down their support for live broadcasting of independents in the twin cities. Monday, March 2. Kitty Cat. It won't be the same party without you.
