GioSafari is the pseudonym for NYC-based singer-songwriter and street performer, Gio Andollo. From 2000 to 2004 he performed in Miami-based punk band SnootiBounse, as songwriter, vocalist, and guitarist. In the fall of 2004 he moved to Orlando and during his five years there played in a variety of other bands and genres. As a solo artist, he performed live on the corner of Central and Orange in downtown Orlando nearly every weekend from November 2008 to April 2009. During that time, he wrote a handful of songs to be released on his debut EP "Life is a bike wreck (better wear your helmet)". He recorded the CD, hosted the release party in Orlando, July 2009, and followed up this show with a five-week road tour he had booked to Seattle through the month of August. Upon returning to Orlando, he packed his possessions and within days was back on the road to make New York City his new stomping grounds. He is now a starving artist in "this insomniatic place".
His solo music is mostly influenced by American folk and punk, but his tastes, writing, and performing style have also been influenced by his experience as a music student at UCF, where he was exposed to classical, jazz, avant garde, and early forms of electronic music. He advocates and strongly recommends the use bicycle helmets.
I'm catching the wave, it has brought me to NYC. I'm serving with Trinity Grace Church, street performing, teaching, composing, arranging, and trying to be disciplined. I sing and play guitar, harmonica, drums, maracas, tamborine, and a variety of other instruments; I like to juggle, surf, skate, write poetry, and record music.
I pray for peace.
I believe in love.
I believe in you.
I performed on the streets of downtown Orlando for a few months, here's a documentary for which I was interviewed. Enjoy!
"They tell us that we live in a great free republic; that our institutions are democratic; that we are a free and self-governeing people. This is too much, even for a joke."

whoa, i just saw that you went to Pisgah Foest in NC. well, funny story. i've been there--my whole family was on a roadtrip and several of us needed to pee really bad and there was no where (with plumbing) to stop at, so we were like AHHHHHH, but then we ended up at "Mt. Pisgah Inn," got a room, and all took turns going to the bathroom and stayed there a night or two. also this place has lots of skunks whom you can feed and make friends with, if you are hardcore enough. end of story!
