Press and stuff yeah?
Sixty watt bayonets are the most exciting female fronted art-rock bands in the country right now. sixty watt bayonets play a unique brand of short dancey, art-rock songs which draw from a variety of artists such as Siouxsie & the Banshees, Pavement, The Velvet Underground, and Blondie. The band is fronted by the glamorous Penny Bayonet, who is even more diva than the queen herself Dolly Parton.
SIXTY WATT BAYONETS remind us of that summer in Olympia, years making zines, folding seven inch sleeves, sleeping rough to watch bands,. the smell of girl/boy revolution, John Peel, Kim Gordon, Sonic Youth , K Records. Thank these kids for the instant punk sugar hit, that they give every time we play their demo. We booked them for three gigs, after listening to thirty seconds of their demo.

From an early age, MidiMidis have embraced everything from Gary Numan, AC/DC, Howard Jones and Bahuaus, to Nirvana, The Velvet Underground, and Television. MidiMidis create their minimalist fuzzy-buzzy 8-bit music by meticulously weaving the harsh feedback-heavy guitars of Sonic Youth together with the sharp angular work of Talking Heads, Kraftwerk and Human League.
Whether pondering over forgotten thoughts, the ubiquitous subject of relationship breakdowns or pining after a bottle of wine, lead singer Marcus manages to somehow circumvent the bile bitterness that many a songwriter would fall for. He treats these and other dark subjects with a bohemian carelessness and humorous irreverence only to the back drop of feedback laced angular guitars and electro bass and midi bleeps.
As part of the Girl/Boy/Revolution, MidiMidis are playing a number of guerrilla gigs at house parties and in random locations using their (rather battered) laptop, a mega-phone and a guitar. When it comes to recording, the MidiMidis choose to record all of their guitars, bass and vocals on an analogue reel-to-reel 8-track whilst mixing the entire midi samples and overall sound digitally.
MidiMidis' debut record: 'note-to-self' is out both worldwide on iTunes and the limited physical press of just 100 copies sold out in onlt 3 gigs. Since winning BBC Berkshire's Linda Serck's 'The Session' demo panel and having been played on BBC Radio 1 by Huw Stephens and on BBC Radio 6 Music by Tom Robinson, MidiMidis continue to be a compelling dirty underground phenomenon that even games magazines are starting to recognise.
After hearing 'nemesis' on Myspace, PlayStation World Magazine gave MidiMidis their first national feature in their April edition. This is a first for any computer and video games magazine. The lads are currently in the studio recording four singles with the first to be released in the Summer with an exclusive re-mix of 'nemesis' by Tom 'RHYSMIX' Bellamy (ex Cooper Temple Clause and Losers). Continue?
'What stops MidiMidis from becoming yet another 8 bit cliche is their attention to song structure (i.e. they actually have structures and haven’t got so wrapped up in the novelty of writing music on a Game Boy that they forgot people might want to listen to it at some point,) and the nice DFA 1979 style live execution. If you once owned a NES and have records by Test Icicles and The Strokes (circa Is this it,) then you should make the effort to catch these tuneful two asap'

The Good Natured
'Taking the phrase less is more even more literally than those Japanese boffins that created the iPod, the Nissan Micra, and the robotic Chihuahua, Our Very Last combines the organ sample on the keyboard, with a pounding disco drumbeat straight off eJay...the results are some of the most intricate, interesting, and listenable (and re-listenable for that matter) songs you are likely to hear this month'
- AudioScribbler
'Dazzlingly original electronics with just a sprinkle of break beat over layered with this deliciously rich pop vocal... some of the most emotionally sincere songs we’ve had for a very long time'
- Andrew XyntheX
'You know EQ just loves a quirky electronic lady and The Good Natured definitely delivers in that department. Still in school and packing one hell of a Yamaha keyboard, The Good Natured are on the hot hot tip...if you spend some time with her music, you'll easily see that there is musically sweet surprise hiding underneath the hair and minimalism'

this is just to let you know, if you don't already have a copy, that my new mini-album This Is Not What You Had Planned is available for free download for a whole 24 hours this Monday, 8th September from benmarwood. com. Neat, eh? For sure. It got played on the radio and that kinda thing, so it can't be that bad, and Artrocker said nice things about it.
sorry for the random comment invasion, i'm just trying to get as many people as possible to check it out!
ALSO, if you're looking for creative types I'd like to offer my services as a graphic designer, i'm very good. sarah might vouch for me. i think she's seen my art recently!
and I do photography now as well, but i'm not quite so good at that yet cos I only got a decent camera the day before yesterday. but you've gotta start somewhere, right??
Club Velocity’s Bandorama. Rising Sun Arts Centre, 30 Silver Street, Reading, RG1 2ST. Doors 8pm. £5/£4 with flyer. Acts: MATT HEGARTY - Is a genius times a billion. Fact. He should be all over the wireless http://www. myspace. com/matthegartyuk
THE WOOKIES - Our (Club Velocity's) favourite hippy punk band, now based in the centre of the universe that is Reading, having moved from Newbury last week. They sing about Animal hospitals, clouds and bunny rabbits. Come back, it actually works. http://www. myspace. com/thewookiesrock
THE RACE - One of the most successful bands to come out of Reading over the last few years. Signed to Shifty Disco (the label that gave birth to Young Knives), they released their debut album in 2006 and it pricked up the ears of any punter or media heard it. It was a very, very fine debut album. The Race are one of the best examples of such an exciting Reading music scene. They have played many a festival all over Europe-including Reading Festival in 2006. Been championed by the likes of Radio 1/XFM/6 Music and many a fine music publication. This is a very rare one off to see a band of this status in such a small venue. Their second album is ready for release in October 2008. It was was produced by Dave Eringa (Kyle Minogue/Manic Street Preachers) He has taken the band to a new higher level. Sounding like U2 having a fist fight with Arcade Fire. The Race are now a f--king great band! http://www. myspace. com/theraceuk
