From Tempe, AZ comes a new voice in the world of rock n’ roll. Girl Kicks Boy. The styling represents a musical alchemy of modern and classical rock, gritty tones, innocence and fury. Fronting the band on lead vocals as well as harmonica and rhythm guitar, a native of Nebraska, Stacey Funk one of the most soulful, passionate and rockin' female vocalists in the Valley of the Sun. Voted Best Female/Female Fronted Band" at the 2004 AZ SKA/PUNK AWARDS. She also landed on the top of the shoebox Fender's first line of FENDER FOOTWEAR. www.fenderfootwear.com Lead guitarist Rob Bass hails from Florida and draws heavily on influences of the blues greats like Vaughn and Hendrix, but driving hard rock is still the preferred style of expression. Holding down the bottom end and owning it is Soraya Dominguez on bass guitar. Soraya is an Arizona local with a daring 6 string fretless instrument and the chops to match. She represents a musical maturity well beyond her years. Steve Olson's aggressive drums are essential to a high energy GKB show. Big in stature and big in tone, Steve's percussion drives this group harder and harder. With an eclectic mix of backgrounds and influences Girl Kicks Boy is happy with simply being called a rock n' roll band. Less a specific style or genre, but more an attitude. The promise of a raw, explosive and genuine performance is what GKB strives to provide most. GKB was honored to receive the award for "Best Female/Female Fronted Band" at the 2004 AZ SKA/PUNK AWARDS, and "Best New Song" at the 2005 ceremony.
