About The Girl's Guide to Absolutely Everything
"A common-sensible, funny and easy-to-read primer on all aspects of life for women in their 20s and 30s" that's "a standout in a crowded field as well as an ideal gift."
     —Publishers Weekly (Starred Review)

"Long story short, I love this damn book."
    —LibraryJournal.com

The Girl's Guide to Absolutely Everything is a big, practical, hilarious whale of a book by Melissa Kirsch. It aspires to be the best friend to every woman in her 20s, but, failing that, will settle for a spot on her bookshelf between Our Bodies, Ourselves and Metropolitan Life.

It will also settle for replacing the spot on her bookshelf where The Celestine Prophecy, The Rules or the Suzanne Somers biography used to live before she threw it across the room in a fit of pique. And failing that, the book would like to be your MySpace friend. You let that idiot with hot-dog breath you made out with in a weak moment be your MySpace friend? For shame! The Girl's Guide to Absolutely Everything has never refused a breath mint.

It can also show you how to avoid idiots, unclog your tub, find a bra that fits, get a promotion, live with a jackass of a roommate, defriend people you no longer like, find a gynecologist and be generally awesome. Yes I said awesome.

Swell Stuff People Are Saying About The Girl's Guide to Absolutely Everything:

"This is the first book to explain such critical subjects as a Roth IRA and a bikini wax with equal clarity. It’s funny, irreverent, wise, thorough, and empowering. Women of any age will find this book incredibly helpful. It’s like having a guru girlfriend who won’t make you feel dumb for asking the questions you don’t want to admit you don’t know…I laughed out loud. And couldn’t agree more."
—Rosalind Wiseman, author of Queen Bees and Wannabes

"Down to earth and incredibly informative, it's everything you wished your big sister or best friend had told you about navigating the real world."
—Jennifer Weiner, author of Good in Bed and The Guy Not Taken

"Melissa Kirsch's The Girl's Guide to Absolutely Everything is claiming a place on my Incessantly-Consulted-Indispensable-Books shelf between Our Bodies, Ourselves, Alicia Bay Laurel's Living on the Earth, and the friggin' OED!...It's entirely possible that the only questions Melissa Kirsch will leave you asking are: 'Who is this woman and how does she know so much about everything?'"
—Thisbe Nissen, author of Osprey Island & The Good People of New York

Whom I'd Like to Meet
Oprah! Desperately! Please tell her about me.

Also: Smart, hilarious women in their 20s and 30s who miss Sassy but are getting over it, girls who are living/have lived to tell and want to share their wisdom with other women. OK, and charming boys too. You know, Lorrie Moore characters, but unscripted.

Hey MK,

I love reading your blogs. I may not be a 20-30 something year old woman, but I enjoy your words. (Plus I'm from the hood!)

Big hugs from the Saturn Sisters to our dear friend Melissa, without whom every single woman in her twenties would be completely, utterly lost. If we'd had this book during our Saturn Return, well, it would've been a hell of a lot easier!

XOXO

Hey Melissa!

Thanks for being on our show the other night!! We had so much fun talking to you... if you are ever in CT, you should come be on with us for a night - you have a great voice and laugh!!

We talked about the crying at work thing for the entire show the other night... we even got GUYS to call in and admit they've cried at work!!!!!

Then it turned into a whole debate over whether or not men should cry and surprisingly, most of the guy callers said IT'S COOL TO CRY!

We will definitely be using your book a LOT on the show - I am going to get you a copy of the interview :)

Books like you are a guilty pleasure for me. I don't know if I could write one though - it'd probably end up being more like "How to Upload Yourself into a Robot Body Without Gender and Still Get Laid (Sort Of)."
