Let's face it rock music....no, not just rock music would not be the same if it weren't for the girls out there doing their thing. Whether as a solo artist, fronting a band or an all female ensemble.
Of course we can't forget the girls that have been integral many others. Would the B52's have been the same without Cindy Wilson and Kate Pierson? Would Kid Creole have been the same without the Cocounts? And look at Prince, he championed Sheila E, Wendy and Lisa to name but a few. You want richness, you want something special then you're going to need a girl!
Look at the history, who did Bacharach and David choose for their sex of choice to sing their songs. Is Billie Holliday the jazz singer that so many look up to? Did the soul divas coin a phrase without any talent? I don't think so.
Then we have the history I remember, Siouxie and the Banshees making punk with soul, Debbie Harry fronting Blondie to chart success and showing the youngsters how it's done, The Bangles, The Go-Go's, Heart, Joni Mitchell, Karen Carpenter, Madonna......
....the list goes on and is pretty endless as this myspace page is showing. So much new talent out there waiting to be heard by YOU! So get listening and if you find anyone then send them over here, and their fans too. Who knows their fans may like your music as well!
