I'm a web designer and love what I do, so I'm pretty geeky I guess. I used to work freelance (which meant I could bunk off during a sunny day and work all night), but am now work in a big glass building like a real grown up, and have actual nights and weekends off. I could go into details about what I'm most passionate about..but I think you'd be a bit bored ((blush))..

I am also seriously addicted to my camera and camera phone..I'm happiest outside on a sunny day taking pictures in town and knowing what I plan on doing in photoshop with them later on. Good things happen when i've got my camera. :)

Beyond that, you'll have to get to know me. I'm not telling you all the weird stuff i'm into just like that! :P

you need keywords? designchaple.com, ilovedust.com, Manga/Anime, Poser 3d, Ben's Cookies, mystica.org, social networking infrastructure, social interfaces in web applications, content managment, red wine :), perfume. One day I'll make my own perfume, but for now, i'm "shopping" for the right mix.

  • Books

It's been a long, long while since i actually read for pleasure..two post grads will make sure you spent a LOT of time reading very dense topics. Books i need to own:
  • The Secret Garden: this was my favourite book as a little girl. I loved how the character just willed herself to be different, and the compasion and acceptance she got from others that enabled her to do that. There's a lot in this story on healing, from emotional as well as physical illness..but obviously i didn't get all that as a nine year old..maybe at ten i did ;)
  • Chocolat: church vs chocolat, but also about tight communities accepting the new and different.
  • Beloved: haunts me still
  • like i said, it's been a while since i read for pleasure isntead of knowlege. I still have half a dozen books i could be reading to enable my super-web-misstress status...and am working my way through..but you didn't want to know about those, right?

  • Heroes

    In no particular order:
  • Maddona: for being fearless. I love her for having a unique face too. You can characterize just her eyes and lips and it's still obviously her, and that's something that the cosmetically "enhanced" crowd just don't have.
  • My (paternal) Grandma:, for being fearless, giving, nurturing, good, and standing up for what she believed in always, no matter what the consequences. I never got to know her as she died when i was little, but i hope deep down that if she met me she would like the person i am.
  • My (maternal) great grandma:, for taking risks and thumbing her nose at convention. Also for showing that non of the conventional beliefs about "age" are true if you don't believe them to be.
  • Oscar Wild: just for being so witty and special.
  • Mary Magdalen: for giving jesus a decent run for his money, leadership wise.
  • Ishtar: Becaus sometimes you need to send your cheating boyfriend to hell, but then miss him so bring him back for 6 months a year.
  • Hilary Clinton: well, she really did put up with a lot to get to where she is! That's willpower.
  • There's probably more..but those are just the ones i think of if pressed.

    About me:

quirky, phoebe type, geek girl. :)

Um..I hate having to describe myself..people just are, you know?
I'm come from a pretty mixed background: racially, nationality, religiously..you name it. I grew up in the Arabian Gulf (or Parisian gulf if you get offended over such things) before coming to the uk. I speak arabic pretty well. I'm part chinese. I've traveled a lot. People in England think i sound American. I don't. I have a weird mixed up accent, but it's mine :).

On the downside, i guess i don't even fee like i fit in anywhere properly. i'm very slow to make friends, but I'm very loyal to those who persevere. =)
I'm also the person most likely to get approached by strangers and dogs, lol :). ..

    Who I'd like to meet:

Anyone sincere, for real, with an open mind and original point of view is always welcome to message me. I like genuine people who live to please themselves (and maybe family) rather than "cool" people who live to impress others.

I would really like it if more people just let each other be whatever they are in that moment instead of needing everyone to be..dress..think..act like them or expecting them to remain frozen and unchanged forever.

I was very sorry to see (in your status) that your grandmother passed away. I lost both my grandmothers this summer. It truly sucked. I hope you come through this okay.

i got groomed and they shaved off my beard and now mom points at me and laughs. please dognap me, she is hurting my feelings. because i'm still manly without a beard and she doesn't believe that.
why do you feel cold? is it cold outside (like the louis armstrong song) or cold inside, like my mom's house, or are you cold like you're done with people? i'm done with people if they laugh at my beardlessness.
      :(

      by Lynda Hull

Whole years I knew only nights: automats
& damp streets, the Lower East Side steep

with narrow rooms where sleepers turn beneath
alien skies. I ran when doorways spoke

rife with smoke & zippers. But it was only the heart's
racketing flywheel stuttering I want, I want

until exhaustion, until I was a guest in the yoke
of my body by the last margin of land where the river

mingles with the sea & far off daylight whitens,
a rending & yielding I must kneel before, as

      barges loose glittering mineral freight
& behind me façades gleam with pigeons

folding iridescent wings. Their voices echo
in my voice naming what is lost, what remains.
