Taylor Talent International and RATE Records Presents: Gisele
While attending Catholic school as a young girl, a surplus of time and a deep love of music prompted 11 year old Gisele to pick up a guitar to help pass the hours. A natural talent emerged, and soon Gisele harnessed the influence of early county music giants from her childhood, Patsy Cline and Hank Williams, and began writing her own songs.
From her grand debut performance at the VFW in Houma, Louisiana, she then launched into playing with various garage bands in the area. As part of the tour, she picked up some new influences, including “any band with horns”, such as Little Feat, Chicago, and Earth, Wind and Fire.
Then it was time for Gisele to “come inside” and be a studio musician, still playing and writing her own music. She could also be seen in bars from Tipitina’s in New Orleans to Austin performance spots The Ice House and Chicago House, where she won the Singer/Songwriter competition. She spent the next 10 years in Birmingham, Alabama, playing larger venues, local hangouts and festivals.
In addition to other worthy recognitions, Gisele was presented with the Broadcast Promotion and Marketing Executives Award (Fox Networks KVHP-29) in 1990 for a promotional piece she wrote about Desert Storm called “Welcome Home.” She also won an award for a second production called “Contraband Days”.
Gisele has also been honored as a Guest Artist 2 years running (2003-2004) at the Joni Mitchell festival called JoniFest in the Catskill Mountains. Her most recent distinction came in August 2008 at the Moonshadow Tavern where Gisele won the Singer/ Songwriter Contest.
Gisele moved to Atlanta in 2007 and continues to find fresh inspiration and write new songs. In addition to playing several nights a week at local venues, she also spends time in the studio at RATE Records, recording new material for release this winter.
