Influences

Oh, you know, the usual driving forces of sorrow, regret, love, lust, betrayal, tears, laughing 'til it hurts, goosebumps, loss, yearning, exhilaration, freedom, wondering...anything that makes me feel alive. The feelings I experience every day manifest themselves into my music.

Music makes me feel it all.

Major life and musical influence is Bryan Ferry and Roxy Music. You might only know Bryan Ferry from "Let's Stick Together" and "Slave to Love", and Roxy Music from "Avalon" but the volume of work goes right back to the early 1970s and Bryan is currently in the studio with a new original album in the works. Roxy Music were pioneers of glam rock, peers and inspiration to David Bowie in the early days and Bryan Ferry has written slick and stylish grooves to the most heart wrenching balads. I love how his music is constantly evolving and his ability to experiment successfully with different genres.

I think that's why my music crosses so many genre borders. Unfortunately, it makes for difficult categorising, but I love the music I write and in the process, I hope you see it's from my soul... and I hope you'll like it too.

Sounds Like

I stand alone, but if I must...those who have compared have suggested I have elements of... (and in no particular order)... ...Moloko, Roisin Murphy, Kate Ceberano, Dido, Moby, Sade, and lately Goldfrapp - but that's just by pure accident really.

   About Anne-Lise Larsen

The Official Bio Bite

Musical style: distinctly edgy cocktail music with heartrending sincerity. A mood that blends feelings and sentimentality with a modern electronic twist on retro inspired funk, soul, lounge, blues and smooth jazz.

I was the originator of Glamaphonic but as Lady GaGa loved Glamaphonic so much, she decided to borrow it for one of her songs. How flattering for me! Still, most people think I'm copying her now, so I'm slowly dropping it from my vocabulary...

New album is scheduled for release late 2009.

Visit my official website for a detailed bio (two names, same destination):

"I must say: I like what I hear"
Bernd Niedergesaess, Music Editor Europe, Radio 42.

"I love your sounds, the way you play your musics, all the instruments very well played, that's because I love your musics very much"
Brazilian Fan.

2008 and beyond

I’ve been singing and playing music for as long as I can remember. There was nothing else I ever wanted to be or do.

2008 has seen the beginnings of recording my new full length album as a follow up to my EP, “I’m Alive”, which I released in 2006. The EP was a paradox of styles with hints of smooth jazz and old school R&B, a dabble in electronic sounds and a fair splash of blues thrown in for good measure. It’s the sort of music I spin on the sound system in the wee hours when the dark of night allows abandonment of all sense and rationale .

One of the shining lights in being an independent artiste is that I can do what I want, when I want. I’m not boxed in, which is good considering my broad musical tastes. I like being in a position to explore whatever takes my fancy. “I’m Alive” allowed me to dip my toe into the sea of musical delights. It was a tentative dip, but songs like “Cold Cold City” will stand the test of time with its universal theme of loneliness and finding strength in oneself.

This new album which I expect to be released in 2009 touches on some of my dearest subjects. Lust, love lost (or never had), love gained, self realisation, resolution and forgiveness. There are tinges of bitterness (I’m releasing the hounds), self deprecation, humour, regret and slightly inflated (yet fragile) ego. Much like me. It's the "Life" concept album – [insert self mocking chuckle] - and the logical step on from the "I'm Alive" ep!

Musically, it's very passionate, a bit funky, bass driven and heavy on the glamourous sounds.

Anne-Lise :)

Hey Darl, sorry I have not responded, I had not been on Myspace for ages.

Had a very quiet b'day with family, wasn't up to partying as I wasn't feeling up to it, but anyhow no more excuses, I am on the mend.

Fallen in love many times and hope i always will fall in love.Asked the quistion twice and failed twice Regreted the first but not the secound since she showed me how to love more and the value of it.Love is like an egg fragile yet strong and protective. It can hit you like wrecking ball knock you off your feet once the cloud subsides you see if it is the real thing or just infatuation.I love living every day since i have my reasons which makes each day that much more special Could this be the one not sure but it feels so good i'll enjoy it and treasure it for as long as it might last lol
