MARS BARS ..... PEEP SHOW ... CURLY WURLY .... SYD BARRETT....BUTANE GAS ... THE LOG ... SPLODGE .... .JACK DANIELS......MARY MUNGO AND MINGE...

From the ashes of punk rock the glams rose phoenix like into the collective consciousness of the swansea valley. ( well the Tenby anyway )
Trying to remember the exact details of the time is a bit like trying to wade through treacle in velcro boots ( not easy ) manys a time someone says ' REMEMBER THE TIME WE WENT ABSAILING WITH ELVIS DOWN RHOSILLI '
I wasn't there ...yes you were..not me..really ..was I etc etc etc
I just cant remember!
I didn't even know Elvis could absail....................Well blow me...not only could Elvis absail but..he could sing a bit too..but whats that got to do with Glams I hear you ask...well
77 was made in heaven and everything was possible..it may be coincidence but the death of THE KING OF ABSAILERS coincides with the origins of our band ..Punk rock....
Strange that the Glams dont reek of Punk..Why would that be? The answer lies in one word TOO MANY BONGS!!!
Anarchy chaos and stanley ogden was the order of the day and the Olchfa school punk band were the Autonomes ( see swanseapunk.co.uk ) which is where singer nellys first vocal offerings could be sampled..shouting classics of the day like..CHAOS..STORMTROOPER...FIST FUCKERS. ' Not much of a singer..but a pretty good shouter' was the review on the local radio station after an Autonomes gig.......Glen or the founding father of punk rock in Swansea played bass for very early punk outfits Dr Martin and the halfmasters and the Nuforms before really exploding on the scene with Skinhead band the Venom.....'Where the Fucks dock green'...'Working for a living' and were one of the few and only bands to release a single...most Venom gigs ended in a mass punch up and were quite scary events..but hey what else was there to do in Swansea on a Saturday night!
Punk like youth itself was over as quick as it had begun and our cast were now settling into a more psychedelic stlye with Neil Glen and Rat drums joining forces for the next wave of musical madness ' The Curtain '.....DIRTY CIGARETTES DIRTY NEEDLES...BURIED ALIVE....DRUG CULTURE...
Jo Keyboard/violin joined ex Autonome Griffs ' randy waunarlwydd and the wardrobe of love' ....Mr hedgehog....Mike Guitar was still an enigma.
Many mushrooms and a couple of bongs later and the GLAMS were born, originally with guitarist Dick who left to join forces with the cosmic zaps ( see my space friends ) then Mike who said after seeing an early Glams gig which consisted mainly of nelly shouting 'Fuck her up the arse' ' I want to be in that band '.............And so it was..the Barretesc Mike fused guitar with a Morrirotten wanabee vocal.. a post punk rocker rhythm and a classically trained pianist penned classics like codeine linctus...cheap childlike......Lucky Girl...Wide eyed.
And sad to say that was the end of the story ....until now...after a long absence the Glams have settled their musical differences and are once again heading back into the recording studio to try and recapture the early punkadelic vision...sadly still unable to locate Mike, an enigma in a puzzle in a box. ' Shine on you crazy diamond. Also unable to attend is RAT due to death..which I guess is a fair enough excuse..
And although Rat remains dead...Mike has been located and the band are currently working on six new tracks..Water tower an old Autonomes anthem..Sun and Spaceship..Mikes delve into the world of childrens tv..Give me your Love...a song wot the Beatles didn't write....and 'she walks alone' a hookers perspective...'eggshell' ( breaking up is never easy...I know )...and 'flies for spiders' The ultimate in male submission.
Early recordings look promising and with the addition of Dave Rollofs, A Dutch Drumming master..Things look extremely exciting with the promise of a full CD release in the summer 2009.

H. Jackson Brown: Good character is more to be praised than outstanding talent. Most talents are, to some extent, a gift. Good character, by contrast, is not given to us. We have to build it, piece by piece -- by thought, choice, courage, and determination.

Thanks for being our friend, Glam Organs! Yes, we know where Wales is located. It's the home of Super Furry Animals, Gorky's Zygotic Mynci and Torchwood, among other superlatives. And Eve Myles, yes, she's extra hot. Love your songs, all of them, especially the humorous take, the retro keyboard and baritone singing. You have some dancehall casualness and some great melodies. Greetings from Oklahoma's cosmic rockers!
