About me:
Hi EVERYONE! Due to overwhelming numbers for our space at GMAC, our NEW VENUE for 2009 is CCA, Centre for Contemporary Arts, Sauchiehall St. Glasgow. NEW DATE is 3rd Monday of every month, starting Monday 19th January. Registration from 6pm for a prompt 7pm start. Put it in your diaries! Pass the word! And remember to REGISTER your attendance as writer, director, actor or observor at writecameraaction@hotmail.co.uk. COST: £3 student/consc/gmac members, all others £5. Please note we do not have facilities for refreshments available to us on the day, but you can bring your own - be kind, be tidy ;-) MORE INFO. While it's irrelevant if Actors are coming from a theatrical or filmic background, Writers and Directors should note that the workshop is geared to TV/FILM and reflect this in their writing and direction. WRITERS: Writers must have their place at a workshop confirmed prior to the night. Scripts can be a scene, or extract from a larger piece of work - MAX 5 pages - in proper script format. Also brief character requirements and a couple of sentences explaining what it's about. That's it! Simple! DIRECTORS: Directors should have directorial experience with actors. If not you can observe or register for a Directors Debut workshops - dependant on numbers on the night. Again, register to have your place confirmed, via the workshop email. That's it - simple! ACTORS: Expand your remit, meet the filmmakers of tomorrow and access casting opportunities! OBSERVORS: Simply want a good night out or to do some informal netwroking - or see if the nights for you before you register - Come along and find out! CYA ALL throughout the year - cheers ;-)
Who I'd like to meet:
Anyone with a passion and love for film

I’ve made a little Christmas movie to promo one of my 3D models:

If you’re going to be making a video short over the holiday season why not get an entry in for the Cinema With a Big See competition. Full details at ScotVid.com

Are you keeping your camera busy? Have you made any little movies recently?

Looking for inspiration? Check out the short clip on my page. The Nintendo Wii doesn’t actually feature whaling or beheading games but it did inspire one video maker to put together a 2:40 runtime film based on the popular home video game console.

Here’s one I did a couple of days ago to showcase one of my 3D models:

I thought it was as dull as paint, but it appears to have amused a few gamers.

If I can make a little movie then so can you, so get your lenses polished and get an entry in for the Cinema With a Big See competition. You never know, you might just get that £1,000 first prize.

Hope you’re getting your video camera batteries charged up and lenses polished in preparation for getting an entry into the CWABS competition, which is now open for entries at ScotVid.

Here’s a little vid I made yesterday evening:

http://uk.youtube.com/watch?v=W-nIY_r_KMM

WARNING: CONTAINS SOME SCENES OF BARE FLESH WHICH SOME VIEWERS MAY FIND OFFENSIVE.

It’s a little dig at a games developer. Did you spot the Jean-Pierre Jeunet reference?

It required less than 30 minutes of work in my editor – in fact I spent more time looking for sound effects on the web than making the movie.

So making a video short isn’t difficult, although making a good video might require a little more application.

If you have a good idea for a 3 minute movie get out there and shoot the clips before the day’s get too short.

After the success of the Science with a Big See competition, Cinema With a Big See is going Scotlandwide, online and open to films of all kinds.

In association with TayScreen, sponsor, Dundee Prototypical Simulations is working with Scotland’s own YouTube, ScotVid.com and this time there’ll be four prizes up for grabs – a total of £2,000.

Anyone over the age of 16 and based in Scotland can submit an entry in the general or science categories, as either an amateur or professional film-maker.

And it’s a great chance for film-makers to get their work in front of judges like top UK promo producer Simon PoonTip, whose company works with bands like Candi Payne and the View.

The closing date for entries is Friday, 1st February 2008. Go to ScotVid.com for more information or to submit an entry.

Sorry, only open to entrants resident in Scotland. But if that means you’re excluded, why not move north of the border to work or study. Come and find out why everyone is talking about Dundee.

Make a Movie. Save the Planet.

The rise of low-cost air travel is probably the biggest single contributor to increasing CO2 levels in the atmosphere.

So, instead of jetting off on foreign holidays why not stay at home and make a little movie. You never know, you might just win the £1,000 prize in the main general theme category – and save a few baby polar bears from drowning.

Full details about the SWABS video competition will be out next month. Sorry, only open to entrants resident in Scotland. But if that means you’re excluded, why not move north of the border to work or study. Come and find out why everyone is talking about Cumbernauld.
