Gledhill is all about being classic. Records like the 1st Stone Roses album, Pink Floyd's 'Dark Side of the Moon' and 'The Queen is Dead' by the Smiths... these are the records that stay with people forever, and they are just some of the records that inspired us to form Gledhill, and make our debut album 'Constellations'.
How many great songs can one band cram onto one record, well we've tried to make every one of the eleven songs world beaters. We just didn't want any fillers on there. For us, every tune had to be massive. That was the whole premise behind why we got together in the first place.
There's a lot of personal tragedy and hard life experiences within the members of Gledhill, and so the lyrics, melodies and the whole uplifting aspect to our music stems from this. To put it simply, there is nothing fake about Gledhill. No middle class angst. No writing about other people's lives. No attempt to emphasise. We drew on all our real life, collective experiences, the good, the bad and the ugly, and put it all into one album.
But ultimately the aim was to produce something utterly uplifting and optimistic, to lift people's spirits and cheer you all up ! Gledhill is about living through pain and shit, but learning to deal with it it, and never, ever giving up !!!
Y'know folks I was on my way to Leicester the other week and as the train approached Sheffield, 'Roots' came on my i-pod. I had a really nice reminisce for a lil' while. That's an sce tune and it always will be. Not too long though otherwise I would have forgotten to get off the train! Hope you're all really well and it's ace to see Skint and Demoralised doing so well too.
HIya Guys. how is it all going I have not heard much about you guys for this year. If you have any gigs let me know and also if you have any more infomation about the new album would be great to know:D
Hi David, hope you had a peaceful Xmas. Been a bit quiet for a while on the Gledhill front - hope you and yours are OK - look forward to hearing from you soon.
OK, so we know I've got a bit of a vivid imagination, but this is one for the archives I think...
I had a dream last night and I needed an orange bath towel for some sewing thing I was making. (Hey I never said this was going to make any sense!) Anyhow, Lliam was working in the shop and he had curly blonde hair (?!). He didn't recognise me and looked a bit on the scared side when I said I knew he was a drummer. He then tried to sell me a towel of a different colour. I was having none of that, so he started making sandwiches (?!). He got a bit distracted though and cut his thumb with the knife, so he went to the counter to get a plaster...then I woke up.
I don't even know why I'm posting this, It'll just confirm what everyone thinks about me being a bit dotty! But it's too odd to keep to myself. (It's OK, the men with the straight-jackets are due to arrive at 5pm, it's fine!)
Been ever so busy round here, *hushed tones*...Christmas. How did it get to December so quick? I don't remember agreeing to that! Hope the production work's all going well an' all.
Great news about the album coming together David, you've spent a lot of time helping to develop others over the last year now its time to get your own show back on the road. Can't wait to hear the new tracks and see you playing live again. Thanks for all your help with The Speakeasy mate.
What have I said about changing profile photo's an' confusing me?! ;o) The guy looks cold an' nithered. (Bit like me the past few mornings going to work!) I like it, looks a bit like and oil on water effect.
Can I just say an' all the new white on grey look ain't good for those of us who are blind as a bat at the best of times. Unless it's a secret ploy to get us to highlight it to read it. Sorry, but I had to say it y'know.
Thanks for been a friend of THE GT's, don't forget to preview and purchase THE GT's debut album available to buy as downloadable tracks on our myspace page..! Check it out...thanks for your support..??!
