Just me. While I enjoy playing with a good drummer, & have participated in a number of spontaneous jamming sessions, I've never been in a band (not counting Sea Cadets, where I played the glockenspiel).
Influences
Classical, scottish folk, ragtime, jazz. I listen to almost no music other than what I play myself, so I can't really claim any particular band or musician as an influence, though I am quite fond of Pink Floyd, Queen, Eurythmics & some other groups & artists. I seem to have stopped listening to recorded music around 15 or so years ago. It's not because I think there is no music worth listening to, far from it.... it rather puzzles me too. (I also don't watch TV.)
Sounds Like
Hard-core classical pianist in background (though no degree or anything like that in it), later developing an interest in Ragtime, old Jazz & old pop. Took up the flute to give me something to do while waiting for buses (I don't drive), then the panpipes (which can be played while walking, and also during cold weather, as they do not need the fingers). Play a fair amount of Scottish folk music on the panpipes, as well as old pop, jazz & a smattering of other styles & eras. Improvise on all the instruments I play (I also play the duduk, box harp, recorder, penny whistle, violin, clarinet & glockenspiel to various degrees).
Guerilla musician walking the streets of Winnipeg with his body-armour sized panpipes. I like a stable income, so I haven't tried to make a living as a musician for a number of years. Besides, typesetting parts manuals for buses is just so creatively challenging. ;)
You can see a fair number of videos of me playing panpipes & piano at: http://youtube.com/Kamibambiraptor.
