The only roots songwriter to ever reach the final of songwriter of the year at the New Zealand recording industry awards (for Somewhere In New Zealand Tonight in 1996).
Raised in the seaside Art Deco city of Napier where the Pacific Ocean laps at the beaches of Hawke Bay on the east coast of New Zealand’s North Island.
Started writing songs at the age of 12, firstly by putting new words to old country standards, and playing professionally in bands at the age of 15.
Moved to Auckland, New Zealand’s big smoke, a couple of months before 21st birthday. Played in country and Cajun bands in all manner of venues.
Released three moderately successful CDs in New Zealand. Somewhere In New Zealand Tonight in 1995, A Place To Play in 1998, and If That’s What You Want in 2001, the latter credited to Glen Moffatt Band.
Relocated to Queensland, Australia, in 2002. Sometime member of the Smokin’ Crawdads.
Have had co-writes on albums released by Bill Chambers, Ritchie Pickett and Chet O’Connell, co-written with Michael Muchow, Mick Martin and Kerry Jacobson (ex-Dragon), as well as returning to New Zealand twice to tour with Chambers, Pickett and O’Connell.
To listen to more of my songs, click on my friends Michael Muchow and Bill Chambers. Listen to Michael’s Sandra Shine and Bill’s This Ain’t Louisiana -- both co-writes with the artists.
