Glenn Davis grew up in the Cleveland area studying drums with Bob McKee. Among his early influences were fellow Cleveland drummers Skip Hadden, Val Kent, and Jamey Haddad. Davis attended the Berklee College of Music in Boston, graduating with a Bachelor of Music Degree in 1979. In addition to drums, his studies included arranging, harmony, and percussion studies with Gary Chaffee, Joe Hunt, and Dean Anderson. A highlight of Davis's education was studying with master drummer Alan Dawson who had a strong influence on Davis's musical style. Cutting his teeth on the Boston jazz scene of the 70s, Davis performed regularly with notable musicians, Mike Stern, Jeff Richman, Grey Sargent, Tiger Okoshi, Santi Debriano, John Lockwood, Neil Stubanhaus, Cathy Segal, Bill Molenhoff, John Licata, and George Garzone among others.
Spending a few years in NYC, Davis had a long term engagement with The Rino Minetti Quartet, while subbing shows and performing with The Benny Salzano Quintet, featuring Steve Turre. As a writer, Davis has contributed solo transcriptions of Max Roach and Philly Joe Jones to the The Modern Drummer magazine.
Returning to the Cleveland area, Davis quickly became one of the busiest drummers on the scene. He performs regularly with his own quartet, and co leads a popular group Images. Davis is a regular member of the Kol Simca Orchestra and freelances with several other groups, including The Joe Hunter Trio, The Stokes Brothers, John Morton, Dave Sterner, and Charlie Christopherson. Earning his masters degree in music education, Glenn currently divides his time between teaching music in the Cleveland Municipal Schools and performing.
Pianist Larry Porter is a world class musician having lived in New York City, Munich, Barcelona, and currently residing in Berlin. He has had long term engagements with Art Farmer and Chet Baker, and toured with Archie Shepp, Thad Jones, Heinz Sauer, Benny Bailey, and Al Cohn. Porter has recorded dozens of Cd's as a leader as well as a sideman.
Bassist Dallas Coffey has performed with world renowned musicians such as Scott Hamilton, Ken Peplowski, Mark Murphy and David Fathead Newman. Coffey, an institution in Cleveland, is featured on recordings by the Joe Hunter Trio as well as several Cd's by Joe Bell & The Swing Lizards.
Saxophonist Dave Sterner is a 1992 graduate of Indiana University’s Jazz Studies program. He has recorded with Ernie Krivda Fat Tuesday Big Band, as well as his own group, The Dave Sterner Quintet. Sterner has performed with Harry Connick Jr., Aretha Franklin, The Temptations, Tony Bennett, Wayne Newton, and the Dizzy Gillespie Alumni All-Star Big band.
