"Blondie meets Black Sabbath." Have been likened to: The Clouds, Magic Dirt, Killing Heidi, Le Tigre, Juliana Hatfield, Lisa Loeb, Smashing Pumkins, and even Frente!
Glister is based in the Blue Mountains, near Sydney in Australia. The band plays hard-edged melodic guitar-based music, all immersed in sparkling female vocals.
000: BLEEPS
The music has been described as hypnotic rock / power-pop, and likened to Blondie and Magic Dirt. The band carry influences from Smashing Pumpkins, Blonde Redhead, The Superjesus, Lisa Loeb, Madder Rose, and even Black Sabbath.
001: SPRITES
Samantha sings and plays guitar. Mark also plays guitar, his brother Chris is the bass player, and Troy beats the drums.
010: ALBUM
Glister released their album, Be There Soon last year on Somersault Music, with great reviews. The spectacular artwork was designed by mate John Curtin (also did a recent Earth To Nigel cover).
011: NEW DEMO
The new demo Binary Boy & Creatures was recorded in drummer Troys studio that he has just put together (he just engineered the new Brothers Daft album). The tracks show the current direction of the band, still torn between the magic of pop and the lure of the heavier/darker side of music. "We wrote Binary Boy because our bass player is a mechatronic engineer who prefers to work with robots more than he does humans."
100: FUTURE
Glister will continue doing energetic live shows, and are looking to head back to Melbourne soon, as well as recording a few more demo tracks before piecing together a new album.
