BIO (ENGLISH)

The Swami were born in 2003 in Milan, when Livio “Liv” Macchia, vocals, guitar (homonym son of Livio Macchia, singer of the group the Camaleonti) and Marco Mantovani, bass guitar, voice and chorus.


The band was finally completed in 2006 with the arrival of Giorgio Campera, Hammond, Rodhes, Moog, Piano and Davide Lepido, drums and percussions. The Swami are the only group that combines the unique stile of the 60’s and 70’s with the modern rock by constantly researching and use of many different instruments. To date they have composed over 80 songs and self produced their own cds, recorded over 50 hours of live performances, 2 videos self produced, they have a directory of over 100 covers selected taking into consideration the diversity of the public (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Beatles, etc).

- 100 live performances to date with a complete set up and an average of 8000 spectators in clubs and pubs

- 250 live performances supporting, collaborating, unplugged and as guests.

- Concerts and rallies: New Years Eve 31-12-2005 in Piazza Duomo in Milan, 100 thousand spectators; Paladesio in Milan, 21-3-2005, 5 thousand paying spectators; Rolling Stone in Milan, 14-1-2006, 2500 paying spectators, sold out event; Live performances on behalf of the Beatlesiani d’Italia (Italian association recognised by the Beatles band) with tour dates in theaters in Northern Italy and Switzerland; Themed musical nights (from 70’s rock to the psychedelic) in many venues in Milan and surroundings (Le Scimmie, Rolling Stone, Roxy Bar, Moonshine) with spectators travelling in from Italian and foreign cities (Milano, Bologna, Verona, Roma, Napoli, the UK and Canada); Many live performances organised by the charity Telethon...

-many collaborations with various well known artists in the musical scene, like opening live gigs for the group”I Camaleonti” (60’s band which has sold 30 millions of albums to date worldwide) in theaters and arenas with a turnout of 5 to 15 thousand spectators.

-visits to the web site www.swami.it, included 2 myspaces www.myspace.com/livvox and www.myspace.com/gliswami dedicated to the band, with a peak of 350 visits daily and an approximate total of 400.000 visits (source Shihystat, Hyperstat)

- Many interviews and radio transmissions (Life Gate, Radio Rai, radio BBSI, etc); TV appearances (CD:Live, RAI; Sky, Telenova, etc) and on reality and Internet TV channels; the group has been selected runner up or winner of many awards, like the Cornetto Free Music Festival, Heineken Jammin Festival, Rockinbeat, etc.


In 2004 the band recorded and filmed a tribute to the Pink Floyd, “See Emily Play”

In 2007 the band started preparing for the production of their first official album.

In the meantime they have also filmed a second video for a new song “ERA”, presented alongside a short filming with comments from people in the showbiz, music and art.


At present the Swami are putting the finishing touches to the new songs and filming some more videos while waiting for a music deal.

Gli Swami nascono nel 2003 a Milano dall’incontro fra Livio “Liv” Macchia, voce, chitarre (omonimo figlio di Livio Macchia, cantante dei Camaleonti) e Marco Mantovani, basso, voce e cori. La band trova la sua stabilità nel 2006 con l’ingresso di Giorgio Campera, Hammond, Rodhes, Moog, Pianoforte e Davide Lepido, batteria, percussioni.

Gli Swami sono gli unici ad unire l’inconfondibile stile anni ‘60/’70 con l’indie Rock attuale, tramite la continua ricerca e l’utilizzo di diversi strumenti. In data attuale hanno oltre 80 canzoni con relativi CD autoprodotti, decine di ore di video Live, due videoclip autoprodotti, un repertorio di oltre cento cover selezionate in stile con il progetto studiate per il diverso pubblico (Pink Floyd, Led Zeppelin, Doors, Beatles, ecc).

-molte collaborazioni con artisti noti della scena musicale, come: aperture concerti del gruppo “i Camaleonti” (storica band che dagli anni ’60 ad oggi ha venduto oltre 30 milioni di dischi ) in piazze, teatri e palazzetti con un’affluenza dalle 5 alle 15 mila persone per concerto.

Nel 2004 registrano e girano il videoclip tributo al brano dei Pink Floyd “See Emily Play”.

Nel 2007 la band inizia la pre-produzione del primo album ufficiale. Contemporaneamente girano il secondo videoclip del brano inedito “ERA”, accompagnato da un cortometraggio in cui vengono raccolte le emozioni e i commenti istintivi espressi, dopo la prima visione del videoclip, da personaggi del mondo dello spettacolo, musica e arte.


Attualmente gli Swami stanno ultimando l’arrangiamento dei brani contenuti nel futuro Album e continuano a girare brevi cortometraggi e videoclips, in attesa di un ingaggio discografico.
Il meglio della band deve ancora arrivare...
