Glitterhouse Records is a truly independent record label based in Beverungen, Germany. Initially started as a fanzine back in 1981, labelfounders Reinhard & Rembert, two dedicated music lovers, felt that it was time to dare something new: A Record Label. Glitterhouse Records evolved out of the idea to work with some good (but at that time rather unknown) bands and soon they found themselves putting out a compilation cassette called "Battle Of The Bands" as their very first release and continued to publish (preferably) vinyl releases by a few Sixties-Garage Rock, Psychedelia, Punk, and any other band that eventually matched their taste in music. Due to the fact that Glitterhouse Records dealt (and still is dealing) with a lot of so called hard-to-come-by bands and hard-to-get records, Reinhard & Rembert decided to open up the Glitterhouse Mailorder, that soon became a full time job for everyone involved.
1987 saw the start of a license cooperation with the Seattle based SUB POP label, which chose Glitterhouse Records to be the home for such acts like MUDHONEY, TAD, THE SCREAMING TREES and AFGHAN WHIGS just to name a few. Needless to say, the label almost single-handedly brought the grunge phenomenon to the European world. Somewhen around that time Glitterhouse Records even took care of some selected releases by the Minneapolis based AMPHETAMINE REPTILE RECORDS, being responsible for acts like the (in)famous HELMET, TAR, COWS and CHOKEBORE. However, after SUB POP got bigger and more notable, not only because of releases by a band called NIRVANA, it got taken over by the Warner Brothers Music Company and so the license cooperation to Glitterhouse had found its end. The business relations to AMPHETAMINE REPTILE RECORDS stopped in the mid 90s as well, so Glitterhouse Records decided to concentrate on their own signings again. Two magical words pop into mind: MONSTER MAGNET. Glitterhouse Records proudly released their first self titled full length album “Monster Magnet” (GR 0123) in 1990, as well as “25…Tab” (GR 0158), “Spine Of God” (GR 0172), and a 7”/CDs named “Evil” (GR 0204) in 1992.
Over the years a plethora of upcoming and already established artists recorded for Glitterhouse Records. With more than 650 releases in 20 years Glitterhouse Records now celebrates its 20th Anniversary with a re-release of their groundbreaking compilation-output “Declaration of Fuzz” (GRCD 666) in 2006. Still going strong, Glitterhouse Records is one of the few independent labels that can exhibit an outstanding artist–roster, being the home of THE WALKABOUTS, (the now defunct) 16 HORSEPOWER, WOVEN HAND, (early) MONSTER MAGNET, FRIENDS OF DEAN MARTINEZ, (the now defunct) MIDNIGHT CHOIR, STEVE EARLE, BUTCH HANCOCK, WILLARD GRANT CONSPIRACY, HUGO RACE, SAVOY GRAND, SEACHANGE, TRANSMISSIONARY SIX, WHITE BIRCH, LAMPSHADE, PERE UBU, BIG BANG, MICHAEL WESTON KING, just to name a few.
ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL OPEN AIR FESTIVAL Knowing that music’s way more than just sales figures and license agreements, the fine folks at Glitterhouse Records are always busy with organizing the annual ORANGE BLOSSOM SPECIAL open air festival in their very own headquaters' backyard.
Dear Glitterhouse Records: World Peace Before 2021 is honored to be YourFriend. My eight-year-old-peace-activist son Axil’s quest for World Peace Before 2021 is gaining momentum! I'm so proud of him. Please embrace him AND his song "World Peace Before 2021" which he sings beautifully. His performance can be seen on MySpace, his webpage worldpeacebefore2021.com and/or YouTube (by searching his name Axil Kollist.) It is my intention to post a new video of him singing his song every few months so people can watch his talent grow as impressively as the momentum for his quest! Best regards, Axil Kollist’s mom

Yes, I managed to miss the release of the first PoP single since I joined the band (and my first single release ever!), but that's what happens when you're in the middle of the north Atlantic, running around in viking clothes. Anyway, I hope you'll follow my belated advice and check out our new tune. Download it for free and start dancing! :D
