GlobeSonic Entertainment is a full-service international music organization heavily involved in the producing of shows, festivals and artist relations. Their most recent production, conceived and produced by founder Fabian Alsultany, is
Musica Fresca, a 15-city national tour sponsored by Yahoo!Telemundo and Kurfirst/Blackwell Entertainment and featuring Yerba Buena, Voltio, Akwid and Radio Mundial. Alsultany, who has served as Head of A&R and Festival Production at Chris Blackwells Palm Pictures and Putumayo World Music, the largest international music label in the world, has spent well over a decade as one of the industrys most important figures.
Alsultanys former company, Uprise Productions & Management, spanned the gamut of nations as he worked with prime musicians from varied lands: Morocco, India, America, Europe, South America, and wherever else you'll find a heartbeat or drum. During his tenure at Putumayo he produced shows all over North America and the Far East. His Women of Latin America tour, featuring musicians from Colombia, Chile and Brazil, toured 30 cities, and a festival in Singapore saw the likes of Yossou NDour and Susheela Raman. Ever since handling booking at New York's famed SOB's in the 90s, Alsultany has gone on to produce such important events as Africa Fete 99, a 19-city national tour featuring 50 African musicians, as well as the French-sponsored Vive La World 2001 and 2002s bi-coastal Asian Massive tour.
Today GlobeSonic Entertainments vision has expanded into the organic foods industry, partnering with some of todays most important companies to produce socially and sonically sustainable events all over the world. By fusing international artists with lifestyle companies interested in the new global culture, GlobeSonic events and festivals are some of the most unique in existence. Working alongside companies such as Sambazon Acai, Guayaki Yerba Mate, Dagoba Chocolate, Natures First Law and Yogi Tea, the company is bringing health- and community-responsible business in alignment with the music of the world.
GlobeSonic Sound System is the DJ aspect of GlobeSonic Entertainment, featuring Alsultany, photojournalist/yoga instructor Derek Beres (author of
Global Beat Fusion: The History of the Future of Music) and Bill Bragin (Director of
Joe's Pub at the Public Theater. Each member is an experienced professional involved in various facets of the global music industry, making this trio a unique and dedicated collective. Drawing from a world of influence in their global-centric DJ sets, the trio redefines the lines between organic and digital, secular and sacred. By spanning a century of recorded music from around the world in their unique, well-informed and thoroughly accessible sets, GlobeSonic is at once dance party and modern ritual fostering in the new musical mythology of the 21st century. Their parties have become legendary in the breadth of music and ease of transition they make between country, culture and continent.
They recently held residencies at East Village hotspot Nublu and SOBs, and have been showcasing artists at the prestigious WOMEX world music conference. They have staged events around the world with like-minded DJs and musicians. They have represented across the United States and internationally at Berlins House of World Culture, Paris Ethnotech, Beiruts Strange Fruit Megaclub, Vancouvers Alibi Room, Recife Brasils Abril Pro Rock festival, Montreals Club Soda, Amsterdams Boom Bar. In New York they have been seen at the Hammerstein Ballroom, Nokia Theatre, BAMCafe at the Brooklyn Academy of Music, Celebrate Brooklyn, Makor, Irving Plaza, Bowery Ballroom, Webster Hall, Spirit, Global Rotation at Shine and Galapagos. Artists they have shared bills with include Jamiroquai, Antibalas, The Gipsy Kings, Ojos De Brujo, Brazilian Girls, Konono No 1, Zuco 103, Karsh Kale, Yerba Buena, Tabla Beat Science, Carlinhos Brown, DJ Dolores, Aterciopelados, Cheb I Sabbah, Transglobal Underground, The New Deal and a host of others.
GlobeSonic Sound System is represented by
IMN World, North Americas top world music booking agency. They share a roster with the likes of Caetano Veloso, Youssou NDour, Baaba Maal, Ali Farka Toure, Gilberto Gil, Herbie Hancock, Marisa Monte, Norah Jones and Ladysmith Black Mazambo. They are the first DJs ever represented by this prestigious organization. In 2005 GlobeSonic Records launched under Ultra Records, releasing the successful
Bar Bhangra and
Bar Brasilia.
