Promote Your Page Too.. ....hart arbeiten und noch härter feiern – dem ewigen kreislauf des mühevollen abrackerns am mühevollen und sinnlosen vergessens des sinnlosen trotzen die vier verlorenen seelen von jack frost seit 1993 unverdrossen mit ihren in erlauchten kreisen frenetisch gefeierten gloom rock saturnalien. auf inzwischen sieben langeisen hegen und pflegen die österreichischen rock'n'roll-sickos ihren bastard aus doom metal derivaten und gothic glam extravaganzen und mästen ihn mit lyrischen grenzerfahrungen aus dem leben und leiden der geknechteten, dem glanz und elend der vermaledeiten. „und tränen mögen fallen, doch ihr auftreffen auf der erde gleicht einem beben", konstatiert robert müller im metal hammer dem wegweisenden album „gloom rock asylum" des vierers. „anderen pseudodüsteren bösewichten des genres sind jack frost mit ihrer unnachahmlichen coolness immer noch meilenweit voraus", schlägt das legacy in eine ähnliche kerbe. jack frost sind ruhelose gesellen, die ebenso regelmäßig wie sie erfahrungsberichte aus den brodelnden eiterherden ihrer existenz auf die bühnen europas wuchten, von label zu label driften. die gloom rock bastards lassen rechtzeitig zum fünfzehnjährigen bandbestehen mit dem nachfolger zur epochalen sammlung „wannadie songs" des jahres 2005 die erde erzittern. gereift, aber nicht gealtert zeigen sich die herren phinster, morales, gloom und rossos von ihrer energischsten und abwechslungsreichsten seite. „my own private hell" beweist an allen ecken und enden, dass jack frost keine konzessionen mehr machen sondern genau die songs schreiben, nach denen ihnen gerade eben der sinn steht. so sind der räudig-maskuline opener „dirty old man", das bluesig-countryeske „in misery" oder der coversong „red roses day" der völlig unbekannten österreichischen 80er-band the priests ebenso untypisch jack frost wie sie charaktergebend für deren neues album sind. Im vergleich zum vorgänger fischen die bastards auf dem neuen album wieder vermehrt in fauligen midtempo-sümpfen, liefern traurige melodien im 4-minuten-format, erklären das dreckige gitarrensolo zum stilmittel des düsterrock und beweisen einmal mehr ein sensibles händchen für die 60er jahre mit einer eigenwilligen interpretation des john denver klassikers „leaving on a jet plane". „my own private hell" erzählt vom dilemma des gefangenseins in einer zwischenwelt: zwischen langeweile, suff, ex-frauen und dem, was andere das ganz normale leben nennen. autobiografisch? nicht immer. authentisch? bedingungslos...

work hard and party even harder – since 1993 the four lost souls of jack frost have been indestructibly braving the endless spiral around a painful struggle and a somewhat useless oblivion, all that in an illustrious community of gloom rock devotees. with 7 artefacts so far the austrian rock'n'roll sickos have been cultivating their bastard of doom metal derivates and gothic glam flamboyance, not without fattening it with lyrical borderline experiences of life and suffering of the underdog, glamour and misery of the damned. "and tears may fall, however, their impact on the ground feels like an earth quake", robert müller (metal hammer) states, regarding the pathbreaking album "gloom rock asylum". "with their inimitable coolness jack frost are leaving all those pseudo-dark baddies miles behind", legacy magazine comes to a quite similar conclusion. jack frost are restless fellows who are belting out their reports from the rotten swamps of their existences from stages in europe as frequently as they seem to drift from one label to another. just in time with their 15th anniversary they let the earth tremble with the follow-up to their outstanding opus "wannadie songs" of 2005. matured but not aged gentlemen phinster, morales, gloom and rossos showcase their most energetic and various facette. "my own private hell" impresses with the obvious demonstration that jack frost are not willing to make any concessions but just write the songs they goddamn feel to write. The result is that songs like the filthy and masculine opener "dirty old man", the bluesy and country-like "in misery" as well as the cover song of the completely unknown austrian 80ies wave band the priests "red roses day" are as out of character for jack frost as they are characteristic for their new album. compared with its predecessor jack frost are more rocking in the mid-tempo vein again. they seem to raise the dirty guitar solo to a stylistic device of dark and gloomy rock, provide melancholy in the shape of 4-minutes songs and prove a sense for the 60ies once more raping the john denver classic "leaving on a jet plane". "my own private hell" is telling stories of being caught in the twilight zone between boredom, drinking, ex-girlfriends and what others consider normal life. autobiographical? not always. authentic? absolutely.
