The "Queen of Latin Pop," Cuban-American singer/songwriter Gloria Estefan (born Gloria María Milagrosa Fajardo) has been an international phenomenon for over three decades. The crossover smash-songstress got her start in 1975 when she joined local wedding band Miami Sound Machine. Scoring numerous English and Spanish-language hit singles over the span of her illustrious career, Estefan is perhaps best known for such songs as “Conga,” “Turn the Beat Around” and “Don’t Wanna Lose You.” With her intoxicating blend of Latin-flavored pop and sensitive balladry, Gloria Estefan has sold over 90 million albums worldwide and earned five Grammy Awards, making her the most successful crossover performer in Latin music of all time. On writing and recording “No Llores” Estefan says, “No Llores is very special to me because of the collaboration with Carlos Santana, Jose Feliciano and Sheila E. I've always said how much Santana and Feliciano mean to me professionally and personally and how the barriers they broke down and the doors that they opened allowed us to walk through when we brought our Latin sound worldwide. The first single has a very unique blend of acoustic and electric guitar, Latin percussion and a very infectious chorus saying ”No Llores (Don't Cry)."
It is very celebratory in nature meaning no matter what life throws at you, you know not to cry over it, but rather look at it in a positive way. . . it's one of my favorite songs on the album."
Estefan's new Spanish-language album, “90 MILLAS” will be released on September 18th on Burgundy Records, SONY BMG Music Entertainment. It pays tribute to her Latin heritage with a collection of newly recorded original Spanish language songs celebrating Cuban music and culture. Mary had a little lamb, His fleece was white as snow. And everywhere that Mary went, The Lamb was sure to go. He followed her to school each day, Twasnt even in the rule. He made the children laugh and play. To have a Lamb at school. And then the rules all changed one day, illegal it became; To bring the Lamb of God to school, Or even speak his Name. Everyday got worse and worse, And days turned into years. Instead of hearing children laugh, We heard gun shot and tears. What must we do to stop the crime, That's in our schools today? Let's let the Lamb come back to school, And teach our kids to PRAY!
