Influences
Susan: "Including the artists I’ve mentioned on the page, I also love to listen to: Stevie Wonder, Chet Atkins, Nina Simone and loads of others. What comes through in the music, however is harder to say! Dunno if I would flatter myself to compare ourselves to these folks! But I like to think that listening to these guys make our music pretty interesting"
Band formed by singer-songwriter Susan Perkinton. Susan plays guitar and sings and hopes to not sound like anyone in particular. "I love songs with both melody and narrative and I love to listen to a million things including Joni Mitchell, Ella Fitzgerald, Nina Simone, Country music, Jazz & Bossa Nova and all sorts". Susan was formerly of Stereobus and Neurola, the latter of which played T in the Park's T-Break stage in 1998.
Simon joined Susan in 2005. Before, after quite a few years of good old classical music education, he tried playing different things - Celtic folk with Ould Land, chanson with Trio Bonheur, rock with Zelki, jazz and klezmer music with various set-ups, classical music with Dundee and Tayside Symphony Orchestras, and probably a couple more. Eventually found the best outlet for his perfectionist aspirations in playing with Susan. Responsible for the double bass parts, arrangements and continuous let's-make-things-more-sophisticated nagging.
After a longer period devoted to recording their existing songs and creating fresh material, they are now looking to play some more gigs again.
All songs written by Susan Perkinton and arranged by Susan & Simon.
