"Glorious Chorus will have you re-thinking what you thought a choir was in the first place.." Julian Marshall
"Truly brilliant. This is soulful gospel at its best.." Nick Prater
Glorious Chorus, the aptly named 40 strong a-cappella choir led by Helen Yeomans goes from strength to strength. With a full & varied gig list, including Isle of Wight Jazz Festival, Dartington Hall, QEH Theatre Bristol, Exmouth Music Festival, Plymouth Barbican Theatre and outdoor bandstands, they are bursting out of Devon!
Since its start in 2003,
Glorious Chorus
has won over the hearts of its audiences, with original songs and arrangements written by Helen. The choir delivers with passion and professionalism, and has become accustomed to full houses and standing ovations. Now the choir is spreading its wings beyond Devon; as the reputation spreads, so the bookings come in!
Our aim is to bring people together and be joyful in song. We sing because we love to, because lifting our voices up to the heavens eases our hearts and souls. Our songs are about what connects us rather than what separates us, and that connection is transmitted on an individual and collective level. We aim to move our audience, ever hopeful that the walls that divide us "one day come tumbling down", and that our world be a peaceful and fit place for our children.
We are a non-denominational choir. We have no ministry other than to love thy neighbour, live in harmony together, and respect the beliefs and customs of others.
One of the choirs strengths is the flexibilty and variety of their concerts. Alongside the big choral numbers Glorious Chorus has smaller ensembles singing more intricate songs, again written or arranged by Helen. Glorious Chorus also attracts some amazing soloists. Louise Parker, an extraordinary jazz singer, making her name on the national Jazz circuit. Other soloists emerge through the tutoring the choir gives them..... the celtic calling of Faith Burch, basses Tom Hilliard, Andy Barnes & Rob Johns blossoming into vivacious performers and up and coming Singer/songwriters Victoria Klewin and Helen Brignall (aka Heg).
This choir is fun - fun to be in and great fun to listen to. Catch us when you can!
