GT PRESENTS: WEHRMACHT "NORTHEAST SHARK ATTACK" TOUR 2013

Glorious Times proudly announces that the first ever east coast tour of thrash/crossover legends WEHRMACHT will take place in August of 2013 Formed in Portland in 1985 Wehrmacht quickly gained a large underground following and were soon signed to New Renaissance Records. Their debut "Shark Attack" is widely considered a landmark album which still continues to influence bands some 26 years later. They shared the stage on the west coast with other innovators like Cryptic Slaughter, The Accused, Possessed and Slayer. A followup ("Biermacht") was released on New Renaissance, but still they played only on the west coast despite a fast growing fan base. Despite achieving world wide acclaim in the underground the band soon broke up and its members continued on in various other music projects . Toward the end of 2008 the former members of Wehrmacht started getting the itch to play together again and began having discussions about the possibility of a reunion. Quietly, the band reformed and began again playing shows in their hometown of Portland, OR. Soon after the reunion FOAD Records (Italy) approached the band to reissue their 2 classic albums with bonus materials. To support the reissues FOAD brought the band to a sold-out tour in Europe in 2010. The band returned home from Europe and continued to sporadically play shows in their hometown. 2011 saw the band play at Mexico's legendary Hell & Heaven Fest. In 2012 Wehrmacht gained some newly found vigor and began to write new material and play shows with a greater frequency. Late 2012 saw them share the stage with Napalm Death. This performance would have Mitch and Barney from Napalm Death join Wehrmacht on stage for the classic "Night of Pain". As 2012 grew to an end the band made plans for their first trip to California in 25 years. The highlight of their tour was a sold-out crowd at Hollywood's Key Club at which Scott Peterson (Cryptic Slaughter) joined the band on stage for a rendition of the Cryptic Slaughter classic "Money Talks". Back in Portland after a successful tour the band had the itch to play more shows outside of Oregon and were soon planning shows in Washington state. They also had talks of a return trip to Europe and possibly Mexico. This period also brought about talks of coming east for the first time. A few brief discussions were held with Glorious Times about a possible east coast mini-tour and within a short period 6 cities were chosen to host the band on this momentous outing. August 21 - Buffalo, NY (The Forvm) August 22 - Cleveland, OH (Now That's Class) August 23 - Pittsburgh, PA (Belvedere's), part of Skullfest August 24 - Baltimore, MD (venue tba) August 25 - Brooklyn, NY (Saint Vitus Bar) August 26 - Philadelphia, PA (Kung Fu Necktie)

About me:

GLORIOUS TIMES HAS SOLD OUT OF COPIES - THANKS FOR YOUR SUPPORT! STILL WANT A COPY, TRY LOOKING OVER OUR DISTRO LIST, AND CONTACT THEM TO SEE IF THEY STILL HAVE COPIES IN STOCK. The idea for this book came over through an off the cuff statement made in an email. Little did we know those few words would transform into a monster spanning 2 1/2 decades. All of the photos in this book come from the years 1984-1991 and none have been made available to the public at large - the majority of which have never been seen before. They stem from the combined private collections of both editors and the overwhelmingly generous contributions of several of the pioneering spirits whose recollections make the mortar with which this pictorial sentiment becomes the foundation. These two essential elements are what is used to build this photographic testament to our GLORIOUS TIMES. The book is brought to you by those who LIVED in the glory days, with heart felt recounts by those individuals whose efforts together CREATED what is known as extreme music today, and the photographic evidence to back it up. From several separate scenes, vastly differing approaches and a number of countries that spawned some of the most incredible and unique talent - we were all still part of a bigger phenomenon that was PERSONAL. It was our common bond. It IS still our common bond. It is our hope that our fellow veterens of the old guard feel saluted to some degree by this effort, and that (be it as it will be)- a vastly smaller number of astute minds from the generations that came to walk in our shadow will truly appreciate the attempt to share what was with them. For in reality it is the few that this book is really for and will be cherished by. By no means as comprehensive as it should be, it remains yet a forthright tribute to the times, the people and the events that comprise a huge part of the psyche of the individuals who pioneered something special. Something truly creative never to be challenged for the most part, by thousands of individuals and bands who try and try again to unsuccessfully emulate a 'feeling' that will be forever to them unattainable.

Who I'd like to meet:

This book will prove to be something unique for posterity in regard to a photographic recount with tales from the times of a golden age. No narratives from outside sources, no assumptions as to why, when, where and how. Just simply unseen/rare photos cemented together with sentiment from those who lived the life.

The musical styles and genres that played a part in the creation of extremity are what holds our interest mainly - although there are a FEW of the modern bands that do their legacy justice, most are plagiarist in nature and whilst some make alot of money and enjoy seemingly grandiose popularity - their conviction is transparent to reveal naught.

The original soundtrack to our lives. The most innovative, talented and extreme music to grace modern times. Drawing from several different 'scenes' to settle into the general death metal scene spanning the years 1984-1991 - before the 2nd wave which saw many less than worthy bands securing recording contracts.
