About me:

The idea for this book came over through an off the cuff statement made in an email. Little did we know those few words would transform into a monster spanning 2 1/2 decades. All of the photos in this book come from the years 1984-1991 and none have been made available to the public at large - the majority of which have never been seen before. They stem from the combined private collections of both editors and the overwhelmingly generous contributions of several of the pioneering spirits whose recollections make the mortar with which this pictorial sentiment becomes the foundation. These two essential elements are what is used to build this photographic testament to our GLORIOUS TIMES. The book is brought to you by those who LIVED in the glory days, with heart felt recounts by those individuals whose efforts together CREATED what is known as extreme music today, and the photographic evidence to back it up. From several separate scenes, vastly differing approaches and a number of countries that spawned some of the most incredible and unique talent - we were all still part of a bigger phenomenon that was PERSONAL. It was our common bond. It IS still our common bond. It is our hope that our fellow veterens of the old guard feel saluted to some degree by this effort, and that (be it as it will be)- a vastly smaller number of astute minds from the generations that came to walk in our shadow will truly appreciate the attempt to share what was with them. For in reality it is the few that this book is really for and will be cherished by. By no means as comprehensive as it should be, it remains yet a forthright tribute to the times, the people and the events that comprise a huge part of the psyche of the individuals who pioneered something special. Something truly creative never to be challenged for the most part, by thousands of individuals and bands who try and try again to unsuccessfully emulate a 'feeling' that will be forever to them unattainable.

Who I'd like to meet:

Locked in so far for inclusion in our book are sentimental personal recounts by such pioneering spirits as Kam Lee (Mantas/Death/Massacre), John Saltarelli (Lethal Aggression), Dave Bizigotti (Ripping Corpse), Lori Bravo, Joel Whitfield and Phil Hampson (Nuclear Death), Richard Brunelle (Morbid Angel), Mike Browning (Morbid Angel/Nocturnus), Lars Sorbekk (Vomit (Norway)), Bryan Daniel (Invincible Force 'zine), King Fowley (Deceased), Dave Craiglow (Baphomet), Don Crotsley (Nunslaughter), Moyses and Francis Howard (Incubus nka Opprobrium), Pat Ranieri (Hellwitch), Henry Veggian (Regurgitation/Revenant),Alex Webster (Beyond Death/Cannibal Corpse), Alan Moses (Buttface 'zine/Morbid Angel Covenant Of Death), Brian Pattison (Chainsaw Abortions), Don Gates (Brutality), Paul Speckmann (Master/Abomination/Deathstrike etc), Vincent Peake (Groovy Aardvark), Frank Pappagalo (Where's The Pope?), Chris Reifert (Autopsy/Death), Bruce Davis (Ripping Headaches 'zine), Mark Van Erp and Jim Nickles (Malevolent Creation), Vincent Crowley (Acheron), Pete Slate (Acheron/Incubus), John McEntee (Revenant/Mortician), Mark Odechuck and Bob White (Paineater), Sam Biles (Hideous Mangleous), Chris Petit (Soothsayer management, Mega-Thrash 'zine, Radio 'Blaspheme'), Sharon Bascovsky-Robinson & Terri Heggen - Lewis (Derketa), Andy Eichhorn (Prime Evil) and more TBA as the absolute last minute tweating of layouts is done RIGHT NOW! Candid and revealing introductory liner notes from Laurent Ramadier (editor of Snakepit Magazine and founder/editor of Decibels Of Death 'zine) - exclusive to GLORIOUS TIMES. All of this exclusive sentiment lashes together what the book is about: GLORIOUS TIMES, a PICTORIAL of the Death Metal Scene 1984-1991 ...ever changing, this book will prove to be something unique for posterity in regard to a photographic recount with tales from the times of a golden age.

damn I missed the 100 download thing too? fuck!  that sucks. You guys should push on with the book, 150 copies is only a drop in the bucket, of how many old heads out there would enjoy this. Also, I think it's cool you guys are old school grind fans too

hehehe. Thanks alot bro. I really wanted to check out the book, i've just been strapped. Where will it be available from here? You guy really didnt just make over 150 of them right, those were just the special handmade copies? Is it being more mass produced by a publisher afterwards? What you guys cover is very relavent to me, cuz, well...due to my age, I really wasn't heavily into underground metal until like 1992, but thats close enough to still make the time period you cover relevant. The early 90's were the best period for me musically. As far as the music goes, I wish things could have been like that forever. Even the attitudes of most people in bands and in the scene now is nothing like what it used to be. I remember actually wanting to go up and talk to the bands cause they were actually people you'd want to talk to, and nice guys. Nowadays, more times then not, I play gigs, and end up just wanting to punch other bands I meet in the face , lol. Things just ain't what they used to be. Cheers.

GT OFFICIAL COVER (COMPRESSED) Having LIVED through the turbulent days of the pioneering of extreme music, we ofcourse hold dear the memories of those times. The musical styles and genres that played a part in the creation of extremity are what holds our interest mainly - although there are a FEW of the modern bands that do their legacy justice, most are plagiarist in nature and whilst some make alot of money and enjoy seemingly grandiose popularity - their conviction is transparent to reveal naught.

The original soundtrack to our lives. The most innovative, talented and extreme music to grace modern times. Drawing from several different 'scenes' to settle into the general death metal scene spanning the years 1984-1991 - before the 2nd wave which saw many less than worthy bands securing recording contracts.
