After you've finished here, you may like to hear this folk-carol on myspace... Poem 230 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (see my blog for details): CHRISTMAS SUNG SIMPLY
As gospellers have said, Beneath signalling skies, On land dusty to tread, A trough in a stable Was the strawy first-bed Of a divine baby - The forgiving Godhead.
A season for new hope - There then and here now; The yuletide of goodwill - There then and here now.
In respect of this chance, Beneath bright or dark skies, Faith's the star that we glance Attending Christ's churches And trying to enhance, With singing and ritual, Our God-loving stance.
Would be good to see you at one of my local gigs in Gloucester or Cheltenham ... hope you like the music .. I'll keep you updated on these and any radio play too ;-)

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?
This years festival is headlined by Billy Bragg (Friday), Seth Lakeman (Sunday) and Peatbog Faeries (Saturday) with many more top artists also performing incl the award winning The Demon Barbers.
Sunday session starts 1st June at 2pm, Im looking forward to performing at this new folk club Im creating, no one else except an audience to please, no fecking simon cowells as its a come ye all, if you think you can play then just come and play or sing along, Ill be giving you all the best of encouragement, this is grass roots music, home grown, and Im doing it for the heck of it. Jamesons pub Gloucester, at 2pm on the 1st of june, if you please free entry as well! if youve forgotten that I could sing as when I was in the Smirkins we were an instrumental band, be sure Ive been practicing and Im looking forward to Sunday to sing a whole load more than I have for years, likewise the guitars are getting warm as Im playing them constantly, I am also looking forward to hearing you sing your songs and play your tunes, its not a strictly folk scene session, just come and play what you love to play from your heart, and sing from the bottom of your soul, any genre, and not for anything more than the craik, Several good local performers have showed interest in coming and performing, in future, Id like to have a showcase hour for the bands etc who wish to come and show us their mettle, but for this first time were going to play it by ear and fit you in as best as we can, Id really like to promote the event around you and advertise the fact your playing if your as good as I think you are!
musicians sorry no pay, its just for the fun the next few times at least, but help me fill the pub and that will change soon enough
Make A Song and Dance event on Sunday was GRRRREAT!!!! Well done everybody for the organisation. Nice to see so many children there, and people new to folk. The music session, ably hosted by Geoff Wyatt was really good, with people coming out of the bar just to stand and listen.
I love the music on your page, it comes from the real people who do it cos they enjoy doing it. Somehow the pleasure of just singing and playing disappears when performers want money for it. I don't care about the money I just love singing!
Thank you for letting me curl up in your corner of the internet. I don't need much looking after, just a small gin and tonic now and then, in a saucer of course!
Anyway thanks for listening. Any spare guitarists?
Hi Glosfolk great to be on board an organisation that is so inclusive of all folk music in Gloucestershire. We have added a couple of well know tunes for you to enjoy Staten island and Soldiers Joy
