About Glyn::
When he’s not annoying his house-mates by playing guitar for hours on end (or writing awkward literary introductions about himself) Glyn Collinson spends his time designing and building spacecraft in Surrey. As well as working on his Ph.D, Glyn is currently engaged in two extra-curricular projects. One is the UK’s first mission to the Moon, the other is traveling the world with his guitar, writing contemporary folk songs.
Glyn's Musical Background::
Glyn got an early start in folk music when he attended his first Oysterband gig whilst still in his mother’s womb. Unfortunately, his folk career had to be put on hiatus until age sixteen, because of a long and protracted battle with pianoforte. The two of them have since acrimoniously parted company and haven’t spoken since. Soon after this, Glyn found that he got on a lot better with his father’s guitar, and wrote his first song later that year, performances of which to this day are still remembered in family circles with a due sense of exhaustion and dread. Now deep into his twenty-somethings, he regularly performs at his local folk clubs and has yet to be pelted with rancid tomatoes, an unbroken record for which he is justly proud.
Glyn's Influences::
Although his musical base is firmly routed in English folk-rock, many of Glyn’s musical influences and songs come from his travels in far flung lands such as Australia, New Zealand, and America. In particular he would like to apologies in advance if his singing voice slips into a slight trans-Atlantic twang that comes from listening to too much Canadian Folk Music and hanging out with the wrong crowd (or “Americans” as his mother puts it).
