The T-shirt count around the site rightly suggested that these guys would be popular. "It 's been a long time since I 've seen a band that has excited me this much. GMT might take its cue from such powerhouse trios of the ilk of Cream and Mountain, but if you can imagine the latter with enough performance enhancing anabolic steroids to run the Olympics, you have some idea of the power of GMT. (...) If there is a better three-piece than GMT currently doing the rounds then my name is Lord Lucan."

GMT at the Picture Drome Huddersfield 28th October 2006
GMT played in huddersfield UK on Saturday and what a show it was. Huddersfield is Bass player John McCoy's home town and the band didn't disappoint.
Opening with classic track 'Wild West' from Bernie Torme's Electric Gypsies album and then following it with 'Star' was a great way to open the show. The band fired into new track 'Cannonball' from the quite amazing new album 'Bitter and twisted'. The band showcased many tunes from that all of which were well recieved.(This new album is album of the year thus far-be sure to check it out). The jamming these guys do onstage has to be heard to be believed. Robin Guy(Drums) was on top form and his showmanship is second to NONE. We then were treated to the 'Gillan' faves 'Trouble' and 'New Orleans'.The set was closed with 'Smoke on the water' and no-one plays that like Bernie! The set closed with the Hendrix classic 'Fire' which was a nice suprise and ole Jimi himself would have been proud. Bernie handles vocals and lead guitar duties admirably and as a threesome they are an awesome powerhouse trio...
They rock.

VIBES FROM THE VINES FESTIVAL Horam, 12 August 2006
A new festival, set in leafy middle of nowhere, in the heart of Sussex, which by the time GMT appeared attracted 3000 fans......
As darkness fell, the light show became more apparent, and enter GMT, or Guy, McCoy, Torme... Robin Guy is a local drummer of some repute, and bassist John McCoy and guitarist / vocalist Bernie Torme.. both recorded with Gillan, amongst a whole host of other projects.
Basically, they blew away every preceding band, their bluesy punk metal explosive. Torme..'s own 'Wild West' kicked off before they played several tracks from GMT's own forthcoming album.
'Rocky Road' is a real cracker with an Irish bent. Drummer Guy is a hard hitting rocker and a real showman too, and never stopped grinning ear to ear throughout the set. Torme.. and McCoy also add inter track banter and a sense of humour, something some of the other bands could learn from.
Closing with 'Smoke On The Water' the crowed seemed happy, rocking and oblivious to the weather..........

GMT (Robin Guy, John McCoy, Bernie Torme) The Peel, Kingston, London 13 August
GMT are drummer Robin Guy (Rachel Stamp, Bruce Dickinson), bassist John McCoy (Gillan, Mammoth, Gillan) and guitarist Bernie Torme (Gillan, Ozzy et al). Halfway through recording a new album, this gig was a one off and what a marvellous event it was too.
For a three piece band the sonic assault is full, the arrangements excellent and tight. Opening with a couple of old Torme numbers Wild West and Star. Bernie's guitar was blistering, fast, brilliant; McCoy's bass heavy, thundering, solid, and at times even a little intricate. Robin Guy's drumming was superb all night. Heavy too, one of the great young drummers of today.
Some new tracks off the forthcoming album were aired too, including the excellent Cannonball, Down To Here and Cant Beat Rock'n'Roll. These are excellent and make the new album a promising prospect.
Bernie is a good frontman too, interjecting with humour. "Everybody has their faults, I'm a stuttering Irish git, Robin's a drummer, and John's a fat bastard" before they all launched into Mammoth's Fatman. Summerland was a tad disappointing, but Rocky Road was one of the best rock songs I've heard. A cover of Presley's Trouble (an old Gillan staple) was another highlight, followed by a mammoth and incredible drum solo. Another old track made Gillan's own, New Orleans, went down a storm, with Torme playing Colin Town's old keyboard lines. When on this kind of form, there is no-one that touch these guys. Blistering speed without the overdose, energy, finesse, Closing with Smoke On The Water was rousing, and the encores of No Justice and the old Gillan classic Secret Of The Dance proved a brilliant finish to a brilliant set.

"...(GMT) up the ante, creating a soundscape where heavy, punk -like riffs coexist with psychedelic Hendrix influenced guitar overtones and intelligent lyrics, all served up with a unique British flavor.......... something really special.......... Tabbed by this site as "Album Of The Month" for December....... the chemistry of this band cannot be denied..... passion fueled music which is only driven by their love of playing... which is how it should be.
".... the 'Evil Twin' to their debut, an even more nasty collection of wild songs featuring Torme's blistering guitar licks, rock solid rhythms, and most importantly, memorable, hard rockin' tunes.............ten tracks of 'get on your feet and rock' tunes.......
"Just like its predecessor, “Evil Twin” is an album that has to be experienced. Thought it’s dirty and basic rock, there’s so much going on during the 10 songs that it’s impossible to get bored...."
"Those who doubted the British trio would retain the level of intensity set in 2006 with "Bitter & Twisted" should run in fear ..... the veterans do deliver....." (Dmitry Epstein)

"GMT’s debut album was one of the revelations of 2006. A thunderous, roaring opus full to the brim with raw excitement. It was always going to be a difficult act to follow..... John McCoy and Robin Guy must surely be one of the most powerful rhythm sections ever assembled and Bernie Tormé is undoubtedly the gypsy king of guitarists – screaming away with a wonderfully wild abandon... Evil Twin is a joy to listen to....... ."

This is an album that is on 11 from the start - it blows up in your face and pulls no punches throughout. There are literally loads of great songs on here - take the heavy-weight opener Cannonball as a brilliant example. the deep-rooted - Rocky Road (from Dublin) that has Ireland all over it; the old-school Saxon-esque - Can't beat rock n roll - you never can dude. You can simply not get tired of playing this album from time to time as there is a lot of variety to as opposed to one single rock genre. I love the way in - Miss the Buzz ...... they mix kinda proggy-blues with a late Beatle-like arrangement or go for an atmospheric Doorsy vibe in - Summerland that also has the power of a heavy-ripping who number at the right moment. Then theres the extravagant - Vincenzo that closes the CD. A real glower and grower of an album looking forward to seeing them live and hearing the next release from GMT ! 10/10 By Glenn Milligan www.metalliville.com
"Possibly the sleeper hit of the year for people who are tired of cookie monster vocals and hardcore/lowcore/rotten-to-the-core, is the new CD by Bernie Tormé, John McCoy and Robin Guy, otherwise known as GMT. GMT's record Bitter & Twisted is simply put, phenomenal. Bernie has a guitar sound that just warms the cockles of the heart with his fuzz-driven, torque-y sound while John and Robin combine for a rhythm section that is potentially combustible. The record is a true labor of love, evident from even a cursory listen, offering up 11 perfect gems without a note that you would think was just tossed off carelessly..." "Once you pop in the rocking debut, 'Bitter & Twisted' from GMT (Guy McCoy Torme), its like throwing a lit match in a pool of gasoline! Coming at you like a battering ram the trio unleash their rock fury with...Like the late Joe Strummer and Rancid, GMT have not only embraced Punk, but elevate it to its truest art and rawest form. "Bitter & Twisted" - The title says it all and makes you think of something as raw and heavy as gin and tonic. And the music pretty much meets your expectations! "'Bitter & Twisted' is a fantastic return for Torme and McCoy and on this evidence there is plenty of life left in these two veterans of the Rock scene. By recruiting Robin Guy and coming up with a stunning set of original material they are certainly not playing the nostalgia card and they really do deserve to be heard by a wide audience. "...GMT have released an album that not only will peel the paint off your walls, but will definitely perk up the ears of any fan of no nonsense heavy rock, resulting in one of the finest records of the year in the process...Remarkably diverse, especially for the power trio format, what GMT have come up with is a most impressive, cohesive mix of songs certain to find favor with all those who seek this out. Rather than merely playing it safe and coming up with something predictable, these three extremely talented rock veterans have created an album which is as vital as anything being released in heavy rock today, while still retaining enough of the classic elements which brought them recognition in the first place." - Bloody Brilliant Album: This is one of the greatest line ups in British/Irish Rock music for many a year. Bernie, John and Robin....I have waited for a good few years for the McCoy/Torme collaberation and what an album it is too!! It sounds like they have just mikedeverything up, played as live and done the business!! Who needs loads of overdubs?? You never get what it sounds like on the album usually, but with this one,I can close my eyes and imagine the crowd in the background. AWESOME is the word. And I love Rocky Road to Dublin....obviously the N11 from Arklow!! P.D.Brennan (review on amazon.co.uk)
Were it not the veterans but clean-faced boys behind these songs, the album would ferociously bite into the charts. But this band are too bitter and too twisted which requires a good taste to relish them. DME Music Site, Let It Rock (Classic Rock and Beyond)
