The band, Goathead, is a juggernaut comprised by members of the Northwest veteran groovecore band, Jolly Mon. Jolly Mon experienced woes in the trade marking of their name and subsequently decided to become Goathead in 2002. “It was was required per our agreement with the devil”, as Carey Rich, front-man and bass player for the heavy trio says when asked, “Why Goathead?” The rich history of Jolly Mon included supporting slots for such diverse acts as Beck, Blind Melon, SevenDust, Silverchair, Zebrahead, Ice-T, Blink182, Eminem, Suicidal Tendencies, Candlebox, Cherry Poppin Daddies, Machinehead, God Lives Underwater, Primer 55, Sky Cries Mary, Disposable Heroes of Hiphopracy, Ziggy Marley, Dick Dale, Posies, Dead Can Dance, Human Rights, Pennywise, Neurosis, 7 year bitch, and Dread Zepplin.
Goathead begins anew and releases it’s fundamental ultra-heavy crunch and crackle, delivered with a thick, pulsating fluidity. Forging deep into their dense and richly textured sound, Goathead fuses throbbing, incendiary, low-end grooves, heavy saturated guitar, and a pummeling fury of jazz-tinged percussion: all frosted with vocals spanning from liquid and ambient to deep monstrous growls of aggression.
