Goat is a unique trio combining an exceptional sonic palette with an expansive sense of space and composition. They propel their music forward with a sharp harmonic and rhythmic sensibility, motivic development and a willingness to embrace spontaneity. With a unique arsenal of loops and electronic gadgetry combined with woodwinds, electric guitar and drumset, Goat embarks on a process that spans elements of rock, jazz and modern classical music. Their music is accessible to a large variety of audiences as they combine seemingly disparate genres of music through an abstract filter, spitting them out into a stark blend, creating a distinctive soundtrack for the imaginations of everyone.
Zach Stewart – guitar/electronics
Zach Stewart's (aka Skiff Feldspar) guitar style draws from the spirit that created heavy rock, blues/roots music, country and jazz ib all it's forms and extensions. Skiff has toured throughout the U.S. and Canada and has performed at Folsom Prison and The High Sierra Music Festival. He spent three years with Flowmotion and has performed with Tony Furtado, Jerry Granelli, Mike Dillon, Brad Houser, Greg Campbell, Don Goodwin, Tony Furtado, Steve Kimock, Paquito D'Riviera and many others.
Greg Sinibaldi – tenor sax/electric wind instrument
Greg Sinibaldi brings a history steeped in free jazz, studies in composition and a unique instrument in the ewi (electric wind instrument) to the trio. The ewi is a wind driven synthesizer, which Sinibaldi has programmed to create sounds that give Goat an interesting sound. He draws on his experience as a jazz player, new music interpreter and composer in his bands Frieze of Life, Cipher, and Vena Cava. He has also worked with the likes of Gunther Schuller, Jimmy Giuffre, Wayne Horvitz, Cuong Vu, Robert Dick, Reuben Radding, Amy Denio, John Edwards, Caroline Krabel, Matt Moran and many others.
Denali Williams - drums
Denali comes to Goat with a varied history, from playing as a rock n’ roll drummer to performing in the concert hall as an orchestral percussionist, he brings an expansive palette and sharp sense of drive to the band. You can find him exploring a wide variety of musical forms in bands like The Staxx Brothers, Loop 2.4.3, and the Tacoma Symphony, among many others.
Awesome show last night! Sam is your new biggest fan, he was completely engrossed for first 15 minutes but then the chants of "Greg Greg" got too strong and we had to go enjoy the show from the front lawn. You sounded great from outside to the delight of all wallingford.
Hey Friends, it's me, Flowmotion & the Summer Meltdown Festival.
Just wanted to remind our friends in Seattle that we're about three weeks or so away from starting and tickets are about to go up in price on July 23rd. Now is the time to get your tickets if you're planning to go. This is going to be one of the best years yet, 30+ bands on three stages, camping on 40 acres along the river and epic views of glacier capped Whitehorse Mountain. Please tell all your friends and spread the word about the tickets going up next week. Visit the official site at www.summermeltdown.com
This is a great band. Three highly skilled, fantastic musicians, no doubt. If you haven't seen them live get out there and do it. Unlike so many bands that improv a lot (great compositions too), the music never gets tired. It's so rich and cleansing when I'm listening to/experiencing it. To me, it's not really about focusing on individual parts, save a few moments at a time. They seem to listen so well to each other that it's always one beast, one Goat. Greg and Skiff's sounds and sensibilities come together so well, and Denali's playing is so expressive and engaged. Even when they're playing in different time signatures (or so it seems) it's like the beautiful symphony of a clocks gears, until the pendulum cuts through and you think, "Wow!". This is jazz to me, with a rock sensibility of in your face-ness, always alive, never phoned in. See you at the next Goat show.
