The main influence is Metal of the 80ies!
Sabbat/Skyclad had a great influental impact on GOM as several Thrash, Speed and early Black Metal bands of this period as well.
Goat Of Mendes forges all kinds of real Metal to one piece. Let it be Doom, Death, Thrash, Black or whatever Metal, since it IS Metal it can be part of the music.
Combined with a Heathen/Wiccan background in the lyrics the band found its own niche in the music business. Often called to be "grumpy" the band identifies itself on that part with other in context named bands like Root, Sabbat, Skyclad, Cirith Ungol and more. Individuality is an essential part of Goat Of Mendes.

Merry Meet, all of you GOM-supporters out there!
We’ve got news for you! The studio dates for our 5th album are confirmed and thus we are starting the recording sessions in early October this year.
Before that, we will do a pre-production in August, so maybe there might be a short glimpse for all of you (if the results are good enough) to show you what the new GOM material is all about!
We tried our best to ensure that the recordings could have been done earlier this year, but the change in our line-up has bogged us down a little. Expecting to see the release of the new one in early spring 09, we suddely realized, it took us another 4 years to get a new album done...oh well...!
But I can tell you, it will be worth the wait, most definitely! Our next album will be entitled „Consort of the Dying God“ and is a full concept album featuring at least 60 min of very heavy and very Wiccan Metal the GOM way. It’s a bit early to reveal any details about the lyrical concept yet, but I guess, we’ll have a hard time to cram it all in one CD-booklet...
Talkin‘ bout this we will not stray a single inch from the Wiccan Way by jumping on the current „Pagan“ band wagon! We delved deep into hungarian and romanian folklore, so you’re in for yet another new facet of GOM...

Former news:
Currently we are in the process of writing songs for our fifth album.
We are nearly finished and will afterwards prepare ourselves for the upcoming studio session. Therefore I think we won’t enter the stage before late this year again.
With Seeb on guitar and also Nik on drums you don’t need to be afraid that our style would have changed to something very different. We are still 100% fucking Metal and the new offering will hold all the trademarks you are used to, just on a higher level.
With anticipation you can await GOM’s very first full-concept album.
We won’t tell too much for now as there is still lots left to do.

Line-up changes.
We have had some changes in our Line-Up. Maia won't be able to join us on stage anymore. It has already been difficult in the past, but gotten impossible at latest. But she will still be of help taking over female vocals in the studio.
Larz also left the band for personal reasons. But he quitted as a friend and also introduced our new guitarist Seeb to his parts. Larz will play the 28th of April as his farewell gig and we look forward to Seeb showing up on stage on the 11th of May for the first time.
This German Pagan-Metal-Outfit, named after the goat headed God of the Witches faces its tenth anniversary of being active in the international Metal-Scene.
Founded in ‘94, GOM released the highly acclaimed Debut “Hymn To One Ablaze” (Perverted Taste ’95) just a year later.
Being mistaken for just another, though quite unique, Black-Metal act, GOM started to re-define their style on the follow-up “To Walk Upon The Wiccan Way” (Perverted Taste ‘97). GOM’s very own musical delivery, consisting of Black-, Death-, Thrash- , NWOBHM and even folky elements, combined with lyrics based upon Wiccan Paganism, earned the band their own niche amongst the headbanging hordes.
After a break of four long years, parting ways with Perverted Taste in the meantime, the band re-entered the stage with new found power and pride in 2001. With “Thricefold” (Mendes Music/Source Of Deluge ‘02) GOM finally established a bridgehead on the hardly fought Pagan shores.
The unique style of GOM, with its archetypical diversity in threefold vocal delivery, earned the band a whole bunch of new followers worldwide. Euphorical reviews were coming from countries like the “Motherland” of Paganism, Ireland, the US Wiccan scene but also from such remote places as Malaysia, Singapore or Peru.
The new album “A Book Of Shadows” should now take GOM a huge step further on the road. Right after the personal motto of the band “If it’s real METAL, then it can be part of the GOM-sound”, this musical Witches Diary will plunge the listener into a whirlpool of various moods. Be it the brutal, yet melodic “Discordia”, the folky title-track (which features Ingeborg of ADORNED BROOD on flute and Zagan of BLACK MESSIAH on violin), the doomy and very emotional “Guardian Spirit” or the theatrical “...And Inanna Stood Unveiled” - GOAT OF MENDES once more will walk upon the Wiccan Way, straight into the heart of anyone who believes in the power of Nature and PURE FUCKIN’ METAL!
