Dave Pearson & Joel Allen are to produce an album this winter sourcing from various Gobi Wolves recordings made earlier this year. Piano, guitar, drums, bass, electronica, percussion and other noises to mix. Should be super.
However, Gobi Wolves are no more!
Joe now plays drums for Jonjo Feather.
Joel & Lewi went onto form the mighty Tash.
Lewi & Dave made Candela.
Joel & Dave are to create film music together, which is nice.
Dave plays guitar for a few Leeds based singers...
Previous GW incarnation received these lovely reviews:
LEEDS MUSIC SCENE Demo review by Colin Burrill:
With a planned debut release in the spring, Leeds experimental/improvisation outfit Gobi Wolves have given us a taste of things to come with an untitled 5-track demo that was recorded in the summer of 2006.
With shifting arrangements, genre-hopping drum rhythms, dub-like basslines and haunting textures washed down with generous use of delay and reverb (via the means of keys, guitar and electronics), this demo bring moments of suspense, terror and surrealism to the extent in which you feel like you are re-living the world of various characters from an independent horror release from the 80's.
MUSIC GURU Demo review by Mike Evans: Captivating, incredibly enticing, psychedelic music that draws you in and really should be turned up full in a small room so your surrounded by the different textures, with layer up on layer of haunting sounds, dub bass and shifting drums. This is raw instrumental music with intense moods and feeling matted with dissonant chords and structured noise.
FINALLY!!! The live video of Mr. Confuse & The Confusers playing at the Mephisto Club in Hannover Germany on 27th September 2008 is ready. It was the album release concert of the Mr. Confuse album “Feel The Fire” released on Légère Recordings as DLP, CD and digital in September 2008.
.."Champions aren't made in gyms. Champions are made from something they have deep inside them - a desire, a dream, a vision. They have to have last-minute stamina, they have to be a little faster, they have to have the skill and the will. But the will must be stronger than the skill." -Muhammad Ali ..
It seems like years since the last Moorfest happened and to be honest I think the weather was very much a factor in whether people enjoyed themselves or not. Some thrived in the mud whilst others wept until their dads could pick them up. Moorfest is still carving an identity for itself and in the three years that it has been established I think I can say that the one thing that most people love about it is the friendly atmosphere, and this gig is a good opportunity to meet up with friends that perhaps you haven't seen since the festival, to make new friends, enjoy quality music, get a flavour of Moorfest if you haven't already been and also to talk to the organisers in order to give your opinions on how to improve the festival. We'll also be projecting your favourite photos that you've taken from previous Moorfests to create a live mashup that will adorn the walls of the Brudenell so please send them to bandsformoorfest@yahoo.co.uk and make sure that everyone in the picture is cool for you to use them like this.
There'll be much more to boot like gorgeous organic food, t-shirt stall, films and raffles to win tickets to Moorfest 4 which we're working on right now and aim to make it the best yet.
We really appreciate your continued support in making Moorfest what it is and hope to see you all there.
