And it is. Great songwriting, a tight bunch of talented guys and a remarkable sound has already garnered accolades for God is 18. Guitarist/vocalist Dan Stuart, lead guitarist Steve Coombe and bass player Dean Morris formed the alternative rock band in 2009, because of a shared passion to create great music. Dan traffics in songs, which speak of sadness, joy, love and loss … those strong, raw emotions that bubble inside all of us. He tells fearless stories of heartbreak and redemption, in lyrics that are sometimes dark, moody and a little melancholy, but ones that get to heart of life. But, God is 18 always tempers those moody songs with upbeat pop melodies that get you out of your seat. I Will is a song that has attracted lots of buzz. It is reaping a lot of airplay and hits on the band’s website (it’s received more than 24,000 hits in less than 5 weeks). “I wrote it about a person who keeps making excuses for their bad decisions,” reflects Dan. God is 18 rises from a wealth of musical experience. Although the quartet is a new group, its sound is a confident and original mix of melodic, strings-infused rock — heavy on guitar and drums.
