Hailing from the depths of south Florida, Gods and Monsters took their genre bending and definitive sound out west to begin work on their first full length album entitled Shame and Fortune. Blending new wave nuances with an unapologetic rock ‘n’ roll flare; the band has quickly gained attention as being a true tour de force in the music world today.
“Gods and Monsters are just proof that rock is still alive-they’re giving it an overhauling face lift.”
-AP.
“This band gives a whoop-ass electric shock that makes you hair stand straight up.”
-Rockeyez Magazine
Recording out of legendary Hollywood Sounds Studio (which produced some of the most classic records from bands like The Doors, Prince, and Madonna) the band began tracking the record in late 2006.
Consisting of members Joshua Reed (vocals, lyricist), Allen Ashworth (guitars, bass, programming), G.K. Via (guitars), Tracy Hatcher (drums) this four piece took the new material head on and they haven’t looked back since.
“I think in the back of our minds all of us knew what was in store going into this project.
We really needed to isolate ourselves- as a group- to fully focus on fluently translating what we wanted to on this album both sonically and visually. As cliché as it sounds, it was imperative that we found the right people to work on this album with us- because I strongly believe that there's not one particular pocket this band falls into. We’re not afraid to push ourselves and each other to venture outside the box sonically and with our songwriting. We enjoy combining the seemingly un- combinable.
In the end it was about creating music we’d all like to hear.
I don’t think we are the only ones out there tired of the same “peanut butter and jelly” rock records.”
- Joshua Reed
After working with several different producers the band then teamed up with Kevin Haskins of Love and Rockets and Bauhaus, and renowned producer/engineer Danny Saber to finish the record.
In late 2007 G&M released three “sneak peak” demo tracks (Socialite Parasite, The Reputation of Silence, and Held up High) off of the new album.
In the spring of 2008 the band announced that they would be releasing Shame and Fortune exclusively through I-tunes one track at a time.
“We wanted to do something that was more old school than revolutionary.
Take it back to the days of the vinyl so to speak.
So much time was spent to create strong individual songs- more than just an album with filler material.
The band felt it best to give each track its’ own platform so to speak and release Shame and Fortune track by track.
It also breathes more significance to the live performances. The fans will be able to hear these songs for the first time and see them theatrically presented right before their eyes.
We look forward to sharing the new material with all the fans.
Gods and Monsters are currently working on more concert/tour dates.
Stay tuned for more info as the dates are confirmed.
Look for the new OFFICIAL single from Shame and Fortune entitled
Snapshot Devil to be released next month. It should hit airways in May.

Wicked liquid vibes out of Slovakia from Sigurt. Excellent break, underpinned by fat bassline and melodic effects. This is a sure fire winner that is getting dropped by Bukem, Fabio, Nu:Tone, and High Contrast. - TRACK-IT-DOWN.net
