gods girlfriend hail from Brisbane, Australia and consist of Kat Alberts on vocals and Zoltan Campbell on bass and backed by some of Brisbane's finest musicians. Starting initially as a recording project, gods girlfriend has moved from strength to strength, even snaring David Bowie's legendary pianist Mike Garson to play on their debut album 'Don't Panic', and who describes the band as ' one of my favourite collaborations.
'The music is a sonic headrub, a massage that drains away all of the day's tensions, caressing you, revitalising you. It is the still small voice on the wind, the soft place to fall after a hard day. If you like Stereolab, Zero 7, Swing Out Sister, Morcheeba, Incognito and Massive Attack, you'll love gods girlfriend.Since launching the album in August, gods girlfriend has enjoyed national and international airplay, being played on programs in Spain, Portugal, Switzerland, Belarus and US college radio and internet stations, with UK and Canada being added to the list in 2008.
They play around town regularly, and thanks to the internet with steady album sales, have an ever increasing international following. They will be touring extensively in 2008 as well as releasing their second album.

It's the attention to detail and the final touches in production that truly round out this album. Reminiscent of the late '70s and early '80s, 'Don't Panic' features a fusion of disco, jazz and pop that has been embraced by brilliant piano work and innovative recording techniques. Kat Albert's vocals are piecing and crisp and the piano seamlessly follows and respects her every emotion. Scratch the surface and find relatable and thought provoking lyrics that endeavour to make sense of our world while gently encouraging us to think of our own happiness. It seems Kat finally realises that her time is now. This debut album reminds me of a more eclectic version of The Carpenters with a progressive feel supported by layered vocals and provocative male and female voiceovers.(A. Wenz).
