GodSpeed was formed in early September of 2006 when Arthur Silveira and Gregory Lawrence, members of an existing band, Varden Fall, were tired of the same monotony concocted throughout their songs. They wished to bring more energetic and aesthetically pleasing music to the people of Lexington, Kentucky as opposed to minimalistic music that Varden Fall had to offer. Gregory proposed the plan of starting a power metal band in the vein of Children of Bodom mixed with the energy of Angra and Edguy. First, this had failed due to lack of motivation of Gregory and Arthur and the lack of drummers in Lexington.
Arthur brought up the idea of asking Chris Millett, frontman and guitarist of Kali, and J.T. Butcher, bassist of Kali, to join the band, respectively of Chris as singer and frontman, and J.T. as bassist. Chris and J.T. were thrilled at the idea of starting a band filled with such energy to entertain and charge up the subculture of Lexington.
At a time, they were at wit's end of finding a drummer in Lexington who was willing to play music along the lines of Traditional and Power Metal, so they decided to bandage their wound and recruit Doug, drummer of Kali and the General Franks. The first few practices of the newly formed GodSpeed were climactic and enthralling, yet as time progressed, Doug had had problems playing intrinsic and detailed blast-beats and members of the General Franks had had in discrepancies with GodSpeed for quite some time. Their problems had started to affect practices with Doug. Soon, practices with Doug were out of the way and he wasn't as flexible as he was in the beginning of GodSpeed, so Arthur and Gregory had to let him go and find a new drummer.
Word starting getting around that there was to be a new Power Metal band rising in Lexington and Gregory, Chris, and Arthur starting getting calls of drummers in the local area. Much to their misfortune, these drummers were also inflexible.
The deadline was coming up for the Tates Creek High School "Battle of the Bands" and no drummer was to be found on spot that day, so Drew, of another band unknown at this moment, was generous enough to offer his services as a fill-in for a while to hold up some loose ties to GodSpeed. Much to his avail, the plan seemed to work and Drew was amazing at drumming and the key points of innovating drum fills and patterns.
After the Battle of the Bands, the permanent members of GodSpeed begged Drew to become their full-time drummer and to record and write music. However, he had no time, due to classes and drum tutoring and other extracurricular activities. For a while, GodSpeed was on another hiatus. In the beginning of March, Drew was able to start up another band again and accepted the offer of becoming GodSpeed's full-time drummer. Needless to say, the rest of the members were delighted. GodSpeed was alive and brewing with power.
Meanwhile, during the hiatus, came David "Easter" Fraebel. What began as a friendship between the band and David became a partnership in metal. Easter was invited to join Godspeed as a keyboardist. He has remained a partner in true metal ever since.
Months later at the Henry Clay Undergrounds Drew and the band mutually decided that it was best that they part ways and that the Undergrounds would be his last performance, and what a performance it was. As the set opened with a cover of Manowar's "Kill with power" and the crowd chanting the infamous chorus it was only a matter of time until that something great was bound to go wrong. Several prior conflicts about the show made GodSpeed a victim of harassment, deception, and blatant rudeness.
Right after the popular first original, "Godspeed", the band was prompted to abdicate the stage. Not given the twenty minutes the band was promised they commenced with the final cover of the Brazilian power metal band Angra's song "Carry on." As the song began soon came the lights, apparently signaling that the performance was at an end. The band saw otherwise and continued until seconds later when the power soon followed suit.
Still not enough to stop the power metal masterpiece the band continued with an audience chant rendition of the chorus: "So carry on, there's a meaning to life. Which some day we will find!" Moments later the band was prompted to exit the stage and in true Manowar fashion Arthur Silveira explained to the crowd how the show was poorly organized, prompting a large booing from the audience to the Undergrounds faculty follwed by a chant of "Let them play!"
Chris soon further escalated events by shouting the Manowar chorus again, "Kill with power!" and the crowd responded with "die, die!" Soon after the wronged crowd exited the premises and the show was a wild success with all things considered. Drew Charron's GodSpeed career went out with a bang.
Now the band presses forward into an epic age with a new drummer, warrior, and friend Matt Miller. This collaboration brought the band to his abode his Frankfort. Upon the return to Lexington GodSpeed was faced with despair. Inside the minivan sat Gregory, Arthur, Easter, and Shaden with Chris behind the wheel with Manowar's "Wheels of Fire" playing in the radio. Disaster struck when a stop sign was mistakenly passed unnoticed, unfortunately for the band this was a tragic moment.
In Chris' peripheral vision a car was fast approaching from Leestown road. He made a split second decision to speed on through, and try as he might they could not avoid the wreck. The point of impact near the rear of the van caused it to spin 360 degrees and completely turn upside down. The band and manager hastily retreated from the vehicle which was completely mangled.
It was soon after discovered how much of a miracle the accident had become. With both cars completely totaled it was a wonder that every single person walked away from the wreck with minor injuries and bruises. Shaden had a rubik's cube slung from the dash (Got "cubed") at 65 miles per hour straight into his leg, all the members received bruises and cuts from the seatbelts, the poor ESP LTD-200 "Zippo" guitar (as featured with Arthur in the 2007 TC Battle of the bands video) met it's end as the case collapsed breaking it in five places, and most importantly that one leather jacket provided a body armor and safety layer of skin for Greg as he was skidded across the road, but found virtually unharmed.
Unfortunately throughout 2008 GodSpeed's pace slowed to a halt and currently regrets to inform you that they have disbanded. The band praises their luck and vowed to bring not only Lexington, but the world metal at its finest and truest to all the warriors around the world. They'd die for their metal and they damn near did, but not even Mexicans at 65 miles per hour could bring the true metal warriors down! The band sends our condolences throughout life and wishes you godspeed wherever this world may take you!

Put together the first music video for one of the songs, that being for the song "Eel Marsh House", which is based on the movie "The Woman In Black". Wasn't sure to name it that instead of 'Eel Marsh..." ...Eel Marsh House being where the woman in black 'lived', and now haunts it. Though, she seems to haunt the general area of the village as well as the House. If anyone catches her gaze, looks into her eyes....a child will die, usually from the family of the person unfortunate to look at her. As you see what happens to the story's main character at the end.
Hope you like it, that's about all for now, Cheers! Rob
