It has been a little over two years since the vision began and what a ride it has been so far. The ride is just beginning, however, as these four individuals look into what the future holds. This vision began with one goal in mind and that was to take hard rock music and give it a real and positive message.
Godspel is the product of a vision that was had by founder Rob Trevino. Having been in the Christian music scene for awhile, Rob started to really resent the overall unrealistic approach of most of the Christian music scene. The music talked about God and how good he is, however the songs never got real or talked about real life scenarios. To Rob this meant that the lyrics he was singing were just filled with empty words. This needed to change and needed to be brought to the masses instead of within the Christian population. Why preach to the choir? In fact, why “preach” at all? Rob decided that he would let the music speak for itself and go to bars and clubs to perform. However, before he could do that he needed allies in his struggle.
Taking on rhythm guitar and lead vocal duties, Rob now needed to find his partners in hard rock. He started with the bass guitar talent found in the hands of Melissa Trevino. She was a hidden talent waiting to be discovered. Not only is she Rob’s partner in music but also in life as the two were married in December of 2007. Her thunderous riffs and skillful fingers are more than enough to compete with the likes of Cliff Burton or Steve Harris. Not only is she a treat for the ears but her stage presence overflows with confidence and energy.
Next in the line up was to acquire a skillful and talented lead guitarist and Pat Moseley is that and more. Pat is a student of the old school rock from the era of 80’s hard rock and metal. Once he saw and heard Randy Rhodes on guitar his life path was altered forever. Pat brings energy and intensity with his playing that surpasses many. Pat brings a passion to the reality based songs that Godspel brings. There is no faking here; this is real intense hard rock guitar playing that will leave you wanting more!
Last but definitely not least is the powerhouse of a drummer simply known as Chacho. He is the true metalness behind Godspel and gives them the edge needed to kick serious ass! Chacho comes from a death metal background and brings a bit of that flavor to the Godspel sound. he is no joke and all metal to the core!
Now with the line up complete Godspel is set to take no prisoners and bring the positive message that a dying world needs to hear. One thing is for sure, with Godspel you get something real, something fresh, and you get it all in your face! You will definitely leave a Godspel show changed.
