   About Gods Reflex

The more things change, the more they stay the same. Four years and two bands after the break-up of Gods Reflex, Zach Newman, Marcus Spitzmiller, and Jesse Carmona found themselves once again living in the same city. Frustrated with the direction independent music had taken since their departure in 2003, they decided to get together to work on a song Spitzmiller had written. One song became three, and the group began writing and demoing songs for a new band. A sense of urgency developed, and within a year, the band had written an album. The band (which still had no name) began recording in the summer of 2007 and halfway through the recording process, the group realized that they had written the next Gods Reflex record.

When It’s Down To This was recorded by Mark Muraski (Cheap Trick, Cory Chisel, Comedy Central/The Colbert Report) over several months and is the most ambitious, work by the band to date. Lyrically, Newman has never been so revealing. He has created stories that are deeply personal while maintaining their relevancy to the rest of us, and his candor pays off. Musically, the band has pushed themselves to pursue new territory while staying grounded in the band they have always been. Songs like "When It’s Down To This" offer a vison that will attract a new audience while retaining a familiarity that will satisfy even the most particular of long-time fans. New and old listeners alike will be pleased to say that 10 years after the release of their first album, Gods Reflex has returned to remind their contemporaries how this music is made.

Love the new album but "for reals..."

"So Long" needs to be on your Music Page. The song is too good to be left off. It's definitely a song that rivals "How I Learned to Unwind" and "Doctor's Office".

That's MY single choice. It just rocks.

I'm so happy "Boom!" made it into an atual song. So Long will be my song for this summer. I heard it and was a little jealous.

Hey, I know that people with supposedly good musical taste are not supposed to like singles, but I can't stop thinking about what a perfect song "When it's down to this" is: the guitar hook, melody, lyrics, bridge, the layering of the vocals in the chorus, the recording . . . Wow! I really think that song alone has justified your existence as a band.

Don't get me wrong, I love the rest of the disc.
Anyway, great job, guys!

"A Chance In A Disaster" is definitely my favorite song off the new disc. Add that shit to your player so everyone can hear the goodness!

Congratulations on your new CD! I just ordered a copy. I'm still in Korea, so I'm getting it via my mail forwarding address in Florida. I should get it in about a month. I love the single and can't wait to hear the rest. Good luck, guys!
