   About Godsticks
Live

Godsticks are a unique progressive-rock band from South Wales, UK. Formed in 2006, their love of various musical styles including prog-rock, fusion, rock, and pop have been melded together to create their own style.

Initially a cover band performing complex progressive music, Godsticks then began to immerse themselves in song-writing and develop their own unique song formats - borne out of a desire to create song arrangements they wanted to hear, but that were never present in the music of their influences.

"Creative, ambitious, well played; it's what we should all aspire to artistically"
Mick Taylor, Editor (Guitarist Magazine)

"Outlandishly original and mind-bending"
Mike Keneally

“Unique, but accessible: exactly what we need more of! Great stuff”
Billy Sheehan

"Lots of inventive turns of phrase, clever arpeggios, and other little touches combine with the jazzish grooves and hooky melodies to keep things interesting."
Barry Cleveland, (Guitar Player Magazine)

"Godsticks creates a heavenly fusion out of some unexpected sub-genres -- jazz, pop, rock and funk -- to recall the best work of artists like Jeff Beck, Mike Keneally, Level 42, Peter Gabriel, Steve Vai and Steely Dan."
Bill Meredith, (JazzTimes and Jazziz magazines)

"If you're one of those people that MUST categorise a band's music, you'll have to invent a new one called Progressive Jazz Rock for this band. They sound to me like Jeff Berlin and Allan Holdsworth meet Colloseum and Spock’s Beard. Jason Marsh's bass is bubbling all the way through, and the guitarist is doing wonderfully, unconventional things."
Martin Simpson, (Bass Musician Magazine)

“Really enjoyed the music; eager to hear more…..Nice adventurous turns”
Elliott Randall, (Steely Dan, Solo artist)

"Godsticks is smart, level-headed prog, forgoing angel-wings and flights of rhetorical fancy for a more focused, quirkier, even poppier groove - made that much cooler by the punchy fretless stylings of bassist Jason Marsh. Definitely worth a listen."
Bryan Beller, (Steve Vai, Mike Keneally, Solo artist)

“Tight and groovy with a big solid tone”
Michael Manring

“a prog/fusion that has deep roots in the best UK prog bands back in the 70s but with a fresh approach that shows Godsticks will add something to the genre history”
Lorenzo Feliciati, (Bass clinician at Academy of Contemporary Music London)

“Godsticks quirky name warns that you're in for a wild ride. It's immediately obvious that these guys can really play, but it's their writing that seals the deal for me. I'm called a fusion player, but these cats are fusion in the truest sense of the word! I hope this band stays together, because they are bound for musical glory”
Dann Glenn, (Guitarist/Composer)

Untold dreams

Forgotten remembrances
Waiting dust covered

Moonlight reflects
Dreams long hidden
Held safe within
Like guarded secrets
Against all time
Eyes open overlook
Too blind to see
Peer with your soul
Then you will know
The true essence within

Sounding good fellas, a great jazzy funky prog thing going on there. Very reminiscent of some Zappa, which we heartily approve of here at Tinyfish Towers!
A gig somewhere down the line? Everything is possible.
A couple of us (Simon and Rob) will be at Summers End this year, in a purely ligging capacity, maybe they'll meet you there!
Cheers

Sit upon a crescent moon
Among the twinkling stars
You'll hear a million whispers
Of wishes large and small
Sent up from near and far
Yes! Magick lives
