Godswounds played their first performance on May the 15th, 2009 at Candy's Apartment; a four piece made up of Lachlan Kerr, Muel, Simeon Bartholomew and Joe Lee. After this, the band only played a handful of shows (a brief series of shows at the Excelsior, Surry Hills) before being invited on six months of touring in Taiwan.

The group that toured Taiwan was a trio made up of Kerr, Muel and Lee and played an extensive season of gigs varying from high profile festivals to intimate performances in cafes. Circa August '09 - January '10. These concerts included:

TRIBUTE TO THE GOD OF HELL - A halloween performance at XinXuang Temple.

THE HUNGRY EAR - A festival of Experimental and Electronic Music in Ximen.

PEACEFEST - An amazing festival that takes place at the foot of Taroko Gorge which featured a slew of local Taiwanese and international acts.

Performances took place at the following venues:

UNDERWORLD, RED WOLF, THE LIGHT LOUNGE, 89K, ALLSTAR BAR, ONEWAYCAFE, THE VELVET UNDERGROUND, APA 101 LIVEHOUSE, BLISS, THE SUGAR FACTORY: DULAN CAFE

Godswounds then went on to tour Japan. The group that toured Japan consisted of Kerr, Muel and Jeff Stoddard of Roughhausen (Formerly of FrontLineAssembly and Will.) Circa Jan '10.

Performances took place at the following venues:

PAPA BEAT, CHIKYU, FANJ (Osaka,) FANJ (Kyoto.)

Whilst there, they participated in a improvised game piece in the spirit of the John Zorn game pieces featuring the Good Luck Boys and a host of exciting experimental Japanese musicians.

During this time the band also released its first EP, "Xiao Chi," recorded at the BRAIN studios, Surry Hills, Australia and mastered by Jeff Stoddard in Taiwan. The EP has been received well internationally, played on radio and reviewed in various media sources.

In March '10, Godswounds returned to Australia, performing gigs as the newly formed trio of Kerr, Muel and Clay Segelov. They have performed at the much-loved Bandhouse night, DEJA, Home Night Club, The Excelsior, AKEMI The Bald Faced Stag, The Sandringham and The Annandale Hotel.

They played FEATHEREST, THE WINTER TRAGIC FESTIVAL, THE DUALPLOVER FINANCIAL NEW YEAR CELEBRATION and various launches and one-off events, including playing live on FBI radio.



The band have also split into two factions, the trio and an experimental improv/loop-based performance featuring Kerr on Keyboards/Sfx and both Muel and Shane O'Neil on drums/electronic percussion called GODSWOUNDS: TWIN BATTERY. (A pending release on the forthcoming Bird's Robe Collective label will act as the first documentation of this collective.) They played shows with Nick Soole on guitar vacillating between these two incarnations.



GODSWOUNDS also founded the Sydney-Based Prompt-Game Music Collective, VIOLENCE IN ACTION, featuring a vast array of talented Sydney-based musicians from bands such as Hinterlandt, Squid, Telefonica, Ebolie, Triangle, Shanghai and Slimey Things. The games are strange pattern-weaving entirely new game pieces inspired by the efforts of John Zorn.

GODSWOUNDS will be performing their last run of shows in November of 2010, before traveling to the US in January to record their first full-length album with the very talented Toshi Kasai.
