GoGirlsAlbuquerque is the Albuquerque branch of GoGirlsMusic.com. We are in the process of organizing regular events in Albuquerque.
Mission of GoGirlsMusic.com is to promote, support and empower indie women in music! Madalyn Sklar started the organization in 1996 with a vision of bringing together independent women musicians from around the country. 12 years later, GoGirlsMusic.com has become a welcome destination for women in music through networking and events. GoGirls produces the GoGirlsMusicFest, Invasion of the GoGirls, Battle of the GoGirls and more. In the last 8 years, Madalyn has spearheaded well over 100 benefit showcases for various organizations including the Rock 'n' Roll Camp for Girls, MusiCares, American Liver Foundation, Nicole Brown Charitable Foundation and more. She has spoken on music panels at 2NMC, Dewey Beach, Dfest, DIY Convention, Folk Alliance, Hyperactive Music Festival, Invasion of the GoGirls, Millennium Music Conference, NEMO, Rockrgrl and South Park Music Festival. She's been a judge for the Outmusic Awards from 2003-2006, named one of 10 Powerful Women in Music by Curve magazine and was named one of the 15 People You Should Know In the Biz by Indie-Music.com.
Just getting the word out to remind our Songwriter Friends that this Friday (June 27th) is the extended SCHOLARSHIP application postmark deadline for Skip Ewing's Horse & Writer "Invitational." A 7-day writer's retreat like no other, during which You'll be given personal guidance by Skip and three other multi-award winning hit songwriters. This year: Deanna Bryant ("Stupid Boy," "Johnny and June," "Don't Make Me"), Clay Mills ("Fall," "Beautiful Mess," "Don't Think I Don't Think About It"), and Chris Wallin ("Love Me If You Can," "Don't Blink")
Apply for one of up to 20 scholarships to attend Horse & Writer Invitational for $0 tuition, but do it soon (by Friday)! Scholarship covers all food/lodging/education/riding. (You don't have to ride horses to participate.)
Don't worry if it's not the perfect demo, we're listening to submitted songs that represent their writers. You'll be heard for your writing, not production.
